Fangraphs Article on Young Hitters in Baseball

We may be seeing the golden age of young hitters succeeding right away in the MLB. Dave Cameron wrote an article yesterday breaking down the numbers between WAR and playing time for these young hitters. One note that I found interesting:

"Last year, teams gave 33% of all plate appearances to hitters in the 18-25 (age) bucket, a perfectly normal allocation of playing time for young hitters. However, those hitters accounted for 39% of the total WAR produced by position players last year, the highest percentage baseball has seen since 1974...."

Maybe... But last year was an extraordinary year for young hitters. We may not see that again for awhile.

Did you read the article? It wasn't just last year, it is a trend.
