formerly33 Verified Member Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 I can switch to Fire and Rain - JT if you want to change guilt-free.I didn't know there was any guilt involved ...
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 It appears Glunn has been too busy to take part in this thread, so I've taken the liberty of compiling his list for him. 1. Dancing Queen - ABBA2. Waterloo - ABBA3. SOS - ABBA4. Fernando - ABBA5. Mamma Mia - ABBA6. Knowing me Knowing you-ABBA7. I Have a Dream - ABBA8. Take a Chance on Me - ABBA9. One of Us - ABBA10. Winner Take All - ABBA
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Yeah I can't top ABBA, it is pretty great though. My guiltiest top 5, after ABBA: 5. Eagle-Eye Cherry- Save Tonight4. Alanis Morissette- Thank You3. TLC- No Scrubs2. The Cranberries- Linger1. Journey- Don't Stop Believin
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 TLC was great! Don't go chasing waterfalls now, Willi. Don't Stop Believin' was ruined for me long ago.... Heard it enough to last a lifetime at sporting events and final call at the bars..
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Anybody going to the Metallica concert at US Bank Stadium? That's a bucket list concert I'd love to attend...
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Damn vanimal is old before his time (I know I already said that, old people repeat stuff, get over it). Picking songs is hard for me, I can never remember their names. Mayor of Simpleton by XTC is my favorite love song. I learned it on guitar last year as a surprise for my wife. Other than that, I'll have to give it some thought.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 BTW, I would say it is an exaggeration to say I learned the whole song, or that I even played it well......
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Nothing wrong with being an old soul! I think I would have really enjoyed the 80's if I was alive in that time period...
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2016 Author Posted March 29, 2016 BTW, I would say it is an exaggeration to say I learned the whole song, or that I even played it well......It's the thought that counts.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 It's the thought that counts. I only picked up a guitar for the first time 3 years ago or so, and am teaching myself, and have zero innate musical ability........it's been a real challenge. Oh, and I am a terrible singer too. And yet my super musical wife still likes me, so that's nice.
Hrbowski Verified Member Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 I'm reading a book called The Concerto: A Listener's Guide by Michael Steinberg, and he lists ChiTown in the acknowledgments.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 I'm reading a book called The Concerto: A Listener's Guide by Michael Steinberg, and he lists ChiTown in the acknowledgments.Yeah. Michael Steinberg passed away several years ago ... cancer. He was a brilliant man. I actually haven't read the book, but I remember when he was working on it. We would lend him scores, and other source materials, from the library.

I think I would have really enjoyed the 80's if I was alive in that time period...I'm sure I lived my first life in the 50's, way too much resonates with me from that decade but I'm only 46.

Willihammer Provisional Member Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 I think Stephen King listed Chitown as inspiration for Annie Wilkes in the forward to Misery.
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Currently listening to my favorite album of 2012https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jr6RChJqwo0
