Musk21 Community Moderator Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 What would be some compelling MN sports '30-for-30' documentary ideas?
bluechipper Provisional Member Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 What if I told you the Minnesota Timberwolves had the chance to draft Steph Curry, but instead took a 6'0 guard named Jonny Flynn who wasn't a great shooter, wasn't an elite athlete, wasn't a great passer, and wasn't a great scorer, even though every Timberwolves fan wanted Curry even at the time. At least that debacle has helped to set up the current core though.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Wide ****ing Right. The Gary Anderson story.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 The entire 2009 Minnesota Vikings Season. The media circus surrounding the signing of long time rival QB Brett Favre, the rise throughout the regular season, and really you could make a completely separate documentary about the 2009 NFC Title game.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Maybe this is a little too old school, but it'd be interesting to learn the story of why the Minneapolis Lakers left town, and then the franchise became the most successful in NBA history once they moved to Los Angeles.

mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Besides the one ESPN has already done the only thing I can think of is something on Sid Hartman. It will be interesting to hear the national perspective when he goes 20 or 30 years from now.

Pius Jefferson Verified Member Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Norm Green Sucks! The loss of hockey in the state of Hockey and rise of the NHL in the sunbelt. Turning Pro..Kevin Garnett jumps to the NBA. Farragut Academy PF Kevin Garnett's decision to enter the NBA draft changes the game forever. Bud: The story Bud Grant a man greater than four super bowl losses. (Might be better suited for HBO)
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Actually, there are a lot of really good ideas here. The contraction story would be more compelling if the Twins had won a WS in the next 5 or so years. I think something on KG could be done for sure. Have any of you seen the doc "Nash"? Something like that. Puckett is another obvious one. Perhaps something on HS hockey. As a Bemidjian, an interesting story could be produced about George Pelawa.
Musk21 Community Moderator Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 They already did one on Randy Moss, but I think the Vikings would make for a good documentary. 4 lost Super Bowls, Darrin Nelson's drop in '88, the historic '98 season and futile NFC Championship loss to the Falcons, 41-0 in the '01 NFC Championship, Korey Stringer, Favre and the '09 season. Plenty to choose from....
