Since the Diamondback keep getting brought up....

They were getting $31M per year in local TV revenue. Now, with their brand new contract, they are getting $80M per year.

The Twins are currently under contract with FS North for $29M annually (started in 2012)

Atlanta just bent over Arizona. Arizona gave up Dansby Swanson and two other good prospects for Miller.

Totally agree. That seems like a huge overpay, but at least they're going for it. We saw how well that going all in strategy worked out for the Padres last year...

And the Sox.

GMs must LOVE to trade with Stewart. Is he the worst GM in the game?  He's in the conversation.

He traded for Herrmann out of purely sentimental reasons

Houston turns down a $3.5 option on Qualls and he gets 2-$12?  And we debated giving Fien an qualifying offer, six years younger and better pitcher the last couple years.  The market has gone crazy - time to wait it out awhile.

No it's not time to wait it out. While we are doing that, good relievers are coming off the board. No reliever left will command an absurdly high salary. TR just has this thing with trying to sign relievers for 1 yr. $3 million. The way the market is changing, like it or not, the Twins will need to spend to get relief. TR has one job this week, to sign a good reliever. Go get Tony Sipp or Antonio Bastardo for 3 years $16 million. That is not that out of control. Too many what ifs in the bullpen to go into the season. Really don't have a strikeout guy at all.

Yikes. When is the Twins' contract up for renewal?

Storen is 27 years old and is coming off a season where he had a 11 k/9 rate....he wouldn't be cluttering the pen or roster at all, in fact there is a very good chance he would be our best bullpen arm...

MIAMI (AP) — The stumbling Washington Nationals are now hurting themselves.

Right-hander Drew Storen broke his right thumb slamming the lock box in his locker in frustration Wednesday after giving up the go-ahead homer to Yoenis Cespedes in the eighth inning, helping the NL East-leading New York Mets complete a three-game sweep.

Nationals manager Matt Williams said Saturday the former closer would likely miss the rest of the season.

Washington didn’t learn of the injury until Storen was unable to throw Friday in Miami. The reliever then told the team what happened, and an X-ray revealed the extent of the injury, Williams said.

Storen flew back to Washington on Saturday to be examined by a hand specialist.

The reliever’s reaction to the injury?

“Regretful that it happened,” Williams said, “and a little bit embarrassed about it, of course. He’s a competitor, and he was frustrated and made a mistake.”

Like his teammates, Storen has struggled lately. He walked three batters Tuesday when the Nationals blew a six-run lead against the Mets, who padded their cushion in the NL East with the sweep.

Storen is 2-2 with a 3.44 ERA in 58 games.

“He’s a big guy lost for us, so some other guys will have to step in and do that job,” Williams said. “It gets guys in some different roles for sure.”

Sorry, but even his 11K does not present a positive for me.
