Twin non-tenders

The non-tender deadline is Wednesday. mlbtraderumors.com provided a list which included Ben Revere and started a nice thread about the former Twins outfielder. The same article listed no Twins. Technically, Trevor Plouffe, Eduardo Escobar and Kevin Jepsen could be non-tendered, but that won't happen. A case certainly could be made for non-tendering Casey Fien and Eduardo Nuñez.

Currently, there really isn't much need for Nuñez as a second utility infielder (after Danny Santana) and an near-emergency outfielder. That would change with a trade of Plouffe. I expect Plouffe to go and Nuñez to stay.

Fien has been reliable and pretty consistent. He is an extreme flyball pitcher who doesn't strike out many, which means his margin for error is pretty small. He's also 32 years of age, not ancient, but he's probably seen his best days. While he wasn't the reason the Twins' bullpen rated near the bottom overall, he isn't part of the solution either. I think the Twins should cut bait on Fien.
