Reider Verified Member Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 As much as I would love to watch Chris Davis crush bombs for the Twins all year long, I don't like him at those prices mentioned in this thread. The Twins already have a decent offense, thanks in part to their younger players who stepped up this year. I would much rather the Twins make smarter choices and go after players that make more sense fundamentally e.g. pitching, a catcher, and perhaps a lead off hitter named Span. Also, I'm not against trading Plouffe away. That could work out good for the Twins if they could get the right player(s) in return.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I don't think the value of Plouffe goes up or down based on other actions by the Twins.....
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Again, there is hidden value in a signing like this. Davis would mean trading Plouffe, Arcia, Vargas, and Pinto would be quite feasible. At minimum Plouffe, Vargas, and Pinto. You trade talent like that coupled with a Kohl Stewart and some 10-20 prospects and suddenly you are getting back Jonathan Lucroy and a couple top 100 prospects.
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Keep Arcia if the plan really is to start Buxton in AAA. 1. Hicks2. Mauer3. Sano4. Davis5. Dozier6. Arcia7. Rosario8. Lucroy9. Escobar
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Trevor Plouffe and Kohl Stewart for Jonathan Lucroy, Josh Hader, and Miguel Diaz Boom
Pardon My Dinger Verified Member Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 The only thing you're getting back for Trevor Plouffe is the opportunity to dump some s-word contracts. and i happen to think that's the way to go.

I don't know what this means.....but Plouffe is a legit starting MLB 3B, that has real value.
sane Provisional Member Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I don't know what this means..I think it means that: Trading Plouffe would get back nothing except a payroll reduction. However that payroll reduction could be used to pay off Nolasco and some other bad contracts, freeing up roster spots for young players to get playing time and MLB development time.

Also, the payroll reduction could only "HELP" pay off Nolasco.
