PH Herrmann for Buxton

If Buxton's psych is so tender that he can't handle being PH for, how is he going to handle a 0-25 streak??

Don't strike out four times in a row Kid and you won't get PH for.

Honestly, I doubt the strikeouts had a thing to do with the choice.  It was more like answering this question: "Who is more likely to tie this game with one swing - Hermann or Buxton?"

That's what made the decision.

If Hermann is more likely to hit a HR than Buxton, we are in trouble.

He has 6 in 371 big league at bats. And 35 in over 2,000 minor league at bats.

Buxton has 28 in 1,227 minor league at bats.  0 in 75 big league at bats.

It's still not clear the correct decision was made. Who is more likely to beat out a slow chopper? Who is more likely to hit an inside the park homer, in the event an outfielder has trouble picking up the ball? Who is most likely to get on base so the next guy up can hit a go-ahead homer? Who is most likely to score from first if the next guy up hit a single? From the sounds of it, though, Herrmann was more likely to hit a home run than Buxton was to even make contact. Just a weird situation all around.

As excited as I am about Sano, Buxton, and Berrios breaking through....roster construction and the use the bench has been on par with Gardy and that is disconcerting.  This is a game where 1-2 games over 162 can mean playoffs or no playoffs, home field or not.  The little things matter.

Buxton has looked absolutely lost at times. Last night was one of those times. Molitor needed to demonstrate to a young hitter that if his mind and focus are not in the game, neither is he. Good move. I'm a Buxton fan, but he's not demonstrated that he's ready to be in the ML's.

This is the was he's started every move up. The cost of his performance following THIS move up is too high, though, to keep it unchecked!

As of 9pm yesterday it was Hermann.  Hopefully in a year we don't have that opinion.  (Or in a week we have a better option)
