Twins Acquire Neal Cotts

The Twins will either send cash or a PTBNL to the Brewers for Cotts.

 

The 35 year old pitcher has a 3.28 ERA but a 4.75 FIP. He does have a very nice 8.8 K/9.

 

Was this a smart move by the Twins? Discuss.

My reaction is "Eh, whatever."

 

Fixing the bullpen would have had a hell of a lot more impact with 80 games left in the season, not 40. At this point, I'm not sure it matters.

40 games to go which is nearly 25% of the season - at least they aren't throwing in the towel. By the way, they are only 2.5 games back for the final spot. If you had told me in March that on August 22nd this would be the case I would have asked you to hand me some of that weed.

Yeah, this is about right. I wanted the Twins to get Cotts before the trade deadline, when we were in the thick of it. It's great that we got him, but it's too little too late.
