I felt bad you were doing all the work lately.....I had no idea what day it was until I looked.

Yeah, right ... no way you convince me you weren't lying in wait for that one! ;)

Well, two shower Mike aside, showering with someone else usually sucks because you typically can't stand under the water together and you get cold. I hate that, National bathing together day makes more sense.

Sauna.

It is national kite flying day, in the US, where it is too cold in about 89% of the country to do that. Wtf?

National Boy Scout day, I can get behind that. For all it's flaws (and there are many), it is still a great organization.

Boy Scouts is something I wish I would have stuck with thinking back on it. I did the cub scouts thing, and that was what, when you're 6 or 7 years old? I remember the cub scout leader was boring, and lost interest in continuing on.

This is turning out to be one of my favorite days of the year....

Today is National Bagel Day! It's a good way to start out the morning if calories aren't a concern to you. A toasted bagel with creme cheese is delish.

Today is also National Pizza Day! Pizza is a food that I would be happy to eat on a near daily basis.

Ha, posted at the same time.

And yes, I love pizza.

We just went to the herbivorous butcher (mostly to buy food for my son and his vegetarian gf), and we* made pizza out of the "mozzarella" and the Italian "sausage". Other than the cheese being runny and not browning, it tasted like the real deal.

*by we, I mean my wife did all the work, while I sat on the couch

I'm trying to think if there has been any time when I'm with friends, and the idea of ordering pizza comes up, if I've ever declined the option. I don't believe I have.

Pizza's on my no-go list right now, so I've turned it down plenty of times lately. People look at me as if I'm a victim of the plague or something. However, my scale tells me I'm doing what I need to be doing.

We've tried several different ways to have crust, none work all that well yet......

It's not crust, it's just pizza. It's like an alcoholic having a drink for me. It's one of the things I just need to cross off the list, and honestly, I haven't missed it at all.

I can't eat pizza ... unless I get one with no tomato sauce and no spicy, greasy meats. Some would say 'Then that's not pizza,' but it's how it goes. Oh, and no thick crust or deep dish ... just no. Thin crust or flatbread pizza if I go that route. Mostly I just don't eat pizza and I don't really miss it.

Pizza is okay once in a while. Mostly I'd eat Thai, Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese foods every day if I could.

Life was great when we had a Vietnamese student as a renter, and she loved to cook.

I'm off coffee, mostly.....and nearly off sugar.

Added sugar is a big one, as is fast food for me. I've not had fast food outside of sub sandwiches since November. Coffee, however, will have to be taken from my cold, dead hands.

Maybe you'd like Italian fries. If you don't know what those are, it's basically just pizza without the sauce - you know, your style. Make a thin crust, sprinkle onion and garlic powder on it, and then cheese ... oh, and use less cheese than you would for pizza. No need to cover up any sauce or anything. And cut it like this:

It looks like they folded the crust over the cheese and sprinkled the spices on top, but that's not the way I do it. The Italian sauce is really optional, and truth be told, it's better plain. And besides tasting much better than pizza, it's probably a healthier alternative as well. I don't know ... I just really like them.

Well we haven't updated this in a few days...

Today is National Almond Day! I like almonds, but are they the best nut for a snack? Debatable.

Today is also National Do a Grouch a Favor Day! I think we're all doing Mike a favor by keeping him more positive......

I prefer cashews as well but almonds are fine, especially covered in dark chocolate.

As for the other, good! I like having favors done for me!

I'm not one to put my grouchiness out there ... I'm fairly private about such things. Just ... don't come near me without just cause.

Like anything isn't good covered in dark chocolate, let's look at things on their own merit please.

Salted almonds are good, otherwise, not so much. Pistachios are very good, as are cashews and Brazil nuts.

Remember red pistachios? Trivia question, how are the disappearance of red pistachios and the 1979 Iran hostage crisis linked?

Posted

I'm in alignment with everyone here that pistachios>>almonds. One of my coworkers has me hooked right now on the salt and pepper pistachios from Costco. Those things are crazy addicting.
