Here is the strike zone map from last night's game:

http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfxVB/zoneTrack.php?month=6&day=10&year=2015&game=gid_2015_06_10_kcamlb_minmlb_1%2F&prevDate=0610

Only one strike call fell outside the typical zone (checked line), and it was to the benefit of a Twins pitcher (red square).  And it looks like Twins pitchers only lost 1-2 calls that should have been strikes (green squares), as compared to perhaps 5-6 for Royals pitchers (green triangles).

Have you ever used the regular gameday, and then checked gameday mini? They are not accurate with each other, and gameday mini (which is the one you posted) is usually way off what the real strike zone is, gameday is fine, but gameday mini is totally inaccurate.

He's  no Ned Braeden, put it that way.

But just imagine if he did start taking it all off? Life copies art! The video of Torii Hunter doing a Ned Braeden on national TV would survive into the next millennium. It might last longer then the memory of baseball itself!

I think we need to take a step back and ask what the end game is here.  Next time Torii is hitting with this ump, is he more or less likely to call balls?  If he is not, what did this accomplish?  If we say "he is teaching the young guys to say enough is enough".  Well what exactly does that mean and will that help us win games?  And given the shove I would not be surprised that Torii gets suspended.

Obviously, it is not Joe's temperament to get in an ump's face. But I also think Joe has a good, respectful relationship with the umps. He seems to get the benefit on pitches that are 50/50. I can't say that is not a superior approach.

Yeah, Torii may not get more favorable calls after his tantrum, and I'm skeptical that Joey's demeanor is helping him get favorable calls. Without proof, I'd suggest Joey's not getting the calls like he used to. Maybe Hunter's act will help everyone? Doubtful, but who knows?

But that wasn't the end game I had in mind anyway. I'm not a fan of these tantrums, but I am a fan of seeing the team play with some observable passion and heart. Would just like to see Mauer express some kind of temperament out there once in awhile. Anything. Hit a double into the RF corner and clap your hands together with a smile when you slide safely into second, Joe.

And stop with smoothing out the dirt in the box after every called strike already!
