cmb0252 Provisional Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Law just released his first mock and he has the Twins taking.....Allard! Here is what he had to say: If Allard's medicals check out -- he had a stress reaction in his lower back but was shut down before it progressed to a fracture -- he seems like the Twins' target. I've heard them with Cameron, although rumor has it he wants more than the slot number here. His top 5 were the following: 1. Swanson2. Bregman3. Tate4. Rodgers5. Tucker. He mentioned that Astros are focused on two bats. Here is his full post for insiders only: http://m.espn.go.com/mlb/mockdraft?source=keith-law-mock-draft&version=1&src=desktop
Jeremy Nygaard Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Cameron wanting more than slot at #6 doesn't surprise me one bit, especially since I heard he won't cut a deal to take less than #5 money with the Astros. Allard popping back up. Interesting. I'm certainly ok with it, but this these mock drafts have a very "flavor of the day" feeling. More so than ever before. The biggest takeaway (for me) is that Law believes the Dbacks have made their choice at #1 and it's either going to be Swanson or Tate.
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 I still like Allard although after reading McDaniel's Black Swan article I wonder if Fulmer could be the prize of the draft.

By now we could pretty much narrow down the Twins pick to 3-4 possibilities. With so much uncertainty at the top I have no idea what they will do but it will be fun to watch.

Here is the article:http://m.mlb.com/news/article/125729150/pair-of-shortstops-headline-latest-mock-draftI can't see Tate falling to #6 but would love for it to happen.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 I take Tate if that happens, no doubt.
Hrbowski Verified Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 I think that if Bregman and Tucker are off the board, and Cameron wants above slot money we should go with Tyler Jay, I think he is the lefty form of Carson Fulmer, and that would be great, but I would be fine with Allard, Fulmer, Aiken, or Harris.

If there is one sport - literally one sport in the world - where flavor of the day could be completely disregarded, it's baseball. They should take the best player on the board based on their 2+ years of evaluation, whether Law has him #1 or #30. Flavor of the day doesn't work in baseball.
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 I'd rather risk injury than lack of talent, Allard or even Aiken would be my picks. Recent picks Giolito and Hoffman demonstrate that the risk of taken an injured thoroughbred can be worth it
