How the Dodgers built a bullpen

Garcia and Rodrigues are young. Baez is a converted 3b and is 27. The rest all appear to be older players culled fron other organizations.

. Maybe Tonkin and Pressly get it figured out this year. Maybe Burdi, Reed and Salcedo get it figured out for next year.  Unfortunately in spring training these guys didn't show enough for the Twins to jettison a few pitchers.

I don't think the delta is so much with pitchers' ages or how they were acquired. It's starting to look to me like talent evaluation, which is disturbing.

That's the next stage of criticism for sure.  A lot of the issues the Twins are having we are chalking up to bad philosophies or decisions and the far more frightening truth is that the place where we lack talent the most may be in the places making the decisions in the first place.

Except they didn't wait for their young guys to figure it out. They just cut bad, older, players. Like the opposite of signing Stauffer, for example. Or Duensing.

The article Tate's that the young guys out- pitched the others and thus made the team. The rest of the construction seems fairly similar, except we have a closer.

I remain hopeful this isn't the case, but there is a lot of evidence it might be.
