TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Heard a couple of hours ago that Jake Reed was being sent down to Ft. Myers. Our news on the young relief flame throwers just keeps getting worse. Ugh.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Still waiting for the Twins to draft a pitcher and have it work. They should be embarrassed by now about this.
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Still waiting for the Twins to draft a pitcher and have it work. They should be embarrassed by now about this. Indians pitcher Shawn Armstrong made his MLB debut tonight and struck out 2 of 3 batters faced, 8 strikes in 10 pitches, mostly throwing FBs in the high 90s. Armstrong was an 18th round draft pick in 2011 out of East Carolina. An interesting juxtaposition to the 3 recent Twins pitcher call-ups, two of whom endured humiliating performances tonight, the other was Tyler Dufffey, no doubt still suffering from Blue Jay Shellshock. Virtually all of the minor league RPs, or young RPs with MLB experience, who were expected to be considered to possibly have an impact this year have gone backwards in 2015, and which minor league SP besides Berrios can currently be trusted to take the mound for the Twins? Mike, this is actually beyond embarrassing. Time for an outside audit of the entire system.
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Our news on the young relief flame throwers just keeps getting worse. Ugh. Reed got in tonight for Ft Myers and threw a scoreless inning, along with Burdi, but these were two of three guys (along with Zach Jones) that were expected to be pitching for the Twins by now, or at least knocking on the door. This seems to be beyond the bounds of "bad luck" and something more systemic.
Guest Guests Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 The Kernels and Twins have announced that Chris Paul has been promoted from Etown to CR and Tyler Kuresa has been released from the Kernels.
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 The Kernels and Twins have announced that Chris Paul has been promoted from Etown to CR and Tyler Kuresa has been released from the Kernels. Kuresa RELEASED????
Guest Guests Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Kuresa RELEASED????Yeah, was a little surprised, too, but not many people I spoke to over the weekend were. Kuresa got 2 chances with the Kernels and did not hit well or with much power in either stint with the Kernels. Clearly the Twins wanted to push Chris Paul a bit since he'd gotten off to a good start in Etown and unfortunately, Kuresa was odd man out. I wish him the best.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 He also had like 12 errors at 1B, which is pretty hard to do. He could land on his feet and there is some good power potential with him too.

Are there any others who look like "odd men out". (Don't need to name names, but have to ask since there are a few guys at E-Town knocking on the door...)

(Don't need to name names, but have to ask since there are a few guys at E-Town knocking on the door...)Short answer is, "yes." There are a small number of guys that could be playing for their professional lives this last month. That is the unfortunate hard reality of the professional baseball business. If Etown gets eliminated from playoff contention and they have a guy or two that might be deemed an upgrade over guys currently on the CR roster, I wouldn't be shocked to see another roster change before the Kernels' postseason begins.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 To make room for Byron Buxton on the Rochester roster, Minnesotan and former Gopher Nate Hanson was released.

Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted August 12, 2015 Author Posted August 12, 2015 The Twins traded Dallas Gallant to the Rangers for (not Johnny) Cash. With a name like that, you got to aspire to play there... He Direct Messaged me the next day, telling me that he had been traded. He's excited. He grew up an Astros fan, but after Biggio was done, he became a Rangers fan too. He's headed to California to play for High Desert (I believe).
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted August 12, 2015 Author Posted August 12, 2015 This is from Saturday's minor league report... realized I hadn't posted several of them here yet: A few quick notes on the transactions of the day:Caleb Thielbar, DFAd last week, was claimed by the San Diego Padres. He’ll report to their AAA affiliate.Eric Fryer, DFAd on Thursday night, cleared waivers and accepted his outright to Rochester. As we mentioned here last night, Jake Reed was sent down to Ft. Myers. In Chattanooga, Brandon Peterson was activated from the disabled list.Chris Paul promoted to Cedar Rapids from E-Town.Lewin Diaz promoted to E-Town from the GCL Twins.Down in the GCL, Roberto Gonzalez was activated from the DL, while MiLB.com reports Aaron Whitehead was activated from the restricted list.

Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted August 15, 2015 Author Posted August 15, 2015 Tim Shibuya also going to Rochester.Corey Williams also going to Chattanooga. Southern League transactions page says Matt Summers was placed on the Restricted List.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted August 15, 2015 Author Posted August 15, 2015 David Hurlbut promoted to Rochester and will start on Sunday. He just told me that he isn't sure exactly how long he'll be up there, but "always good to get promotions."
Guest Guests Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Kernels/Twins announced today (Sat 8/15) that Tanner English has been placed on the DL with a left thumb sprain and Sean Miller has been activated from the DL, where he had been since 8/2 with a right thumb contusion.
Clear Lake Twinsfan Verified Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 MiLB.com is reporting that Josmil Pinto has been activated from the disabled list and assigned to the Fort Myers Miracle. I haven't seen anything yet to indicate whether or not he will do any catching or will just DH. Given the time that it has taken him to recover from his concussion, it won't surprise me if he is limited to a DH role the rest of this season. Matt Summers has been taken off of Chattanooga's restricted list and has also been assigned to the Miracle.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted August 18, 2015 Author Posted August 18, 2015 David Hurlbut was returned to Chattanooga after making a weekend start with the Red Wings.
Guest Guests Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Not good news on Tanner English. Jake Mauer said after the game that he thinks English is done for the season. He had an MRI today on his injured thumb. “He’s done (for the season). I’d say so. He can’t even move it. It’s not broken, but he’s probably done, more than likely.”

I am a fan of Tanner.

He was putting together a really good second half.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted August 19, 2015 Author Posted August 19, 2015 I don't see it here, but Tim Shibuya was promoted to Rochester.
