We've all heard that Votto has only had 4 infield pop-ups the last 4 years.  Turns out that's twice as many as Mauer.  Neat article looking at their contract and swing rates.  Nice to be reminded that Mauer does somethings well instead of not hitting home runs.

Joe Mauer is an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime type talent.   He gets so much undeserved garbage thrown his way I'm glad stuff like this still gets written from time to time.

I agree he gets too much flak, but that's a pretty generous assessment. That would be more true if the 2009 version of Mauer was replicable and he was still a catcher.

Joe Mauer is a very good player whose talents are often under appreciated from the home fans, for whatever reason. Articles like this are great reminders that - yes - this guy is quite good. Appreciate him while he's playing his home games at Target Field, folks.

The title of the post had me hoping for more than just an analysis of two guys who don't hit infield flys.

 

I was hoping to learn about a secret to Joe Mauer unlocking absurd power potential.

 

While I was not entirely disappointed, Joe Mauer as Joey Votto had me wanting more than just IFFB rates.
