Tyler Mason of FSN is doing a nice series on various Twins players,  Brock posted one on Kohl Stewart in the minor league thread.

I found this quote interesting:

May also used a notebook during his time in the majors to track things he wanted to work on in the offseason. Taking notes wasn't new for May, who often kept a log of his daily checklist even when he was pitching in the minors. This year's edition, though, had three pages of notes of things to focus on leading up to spring training.

"Taking that in the offseason, just kind of improving how I keep my legs under me over an entire season, adding a ton of flexibility so I can repeat my delivery even more than I did last year, just kind of building on things I did last offseason and then just taking it up a notch," May said. "Mentally, just simplifying that focus what I need to do each game, being clear what I want to do and then doing everything I could to do it."

I just hope he has found a way to integrate it all so he doesn't become the tinkerer, version 2.

I really like May and it's nice that his "issues" are mechanical rather than "stuff."  Before last season, Jason Parks (then with BP, now with the Cubs) said that May "frustrated the hell" out of him b/c he should have better results with the stuff he had but pitched "small."  Klaw said something similar.  And then May just had a great season in AAA and seemingly tweaked his mechanics.  He could be really fun to watch this year.  He was my pick to lead the team in strike outs.

There was a similar story about him with different issues heading into last season. Last season pre-Twins he went from a real potential ? as a starter to a clear 3-ceiling starter. I expect a similar overall value from him as Kyle Gibson had in 2014 . . . if he gets the opportunity . . .

Seriously, you have May and Meyer . . . but A: sign Stauffer, B: talk about him as vying for a rotation spot, C: don't cut losses with Pelfrey, D: etc. etc?

Cheers to May for being someone aware of his game though.

Every year they feed us that "competition" line. Last year Swarzak was in the mix. The year before, Duensing. My guess is they say that and then give those guys "starts" in split squad spring training when the only purpose is to get them innings and make the other guys ponder the notion. Its a bluff.

Yeah, Stauffer is probably 9th or 10th on the starter depth chart.
