In Wednesday afternoon's game, Trevor Plouffe fractured his wrist tagging a base stealer at third base. The play is one he has done thousands of times, but when he came up, it was clear he was in pain.

This afternoon, Plouffe tweeted that he received good news today. He will not need surgery, but he will be in a cast for 6-8 weeks.

That's good news, for some reason Plouffe is the only player whose performance I trust this year, as in not over or under achieving his actually abilities.

Looks like he'll be starting the va-ca early! j/k, I hope he sticks around to support his team and young guys the rest of the season. He is going to be needed to take on a bigger veteran/leadership role in the next few years so I hope he's up for it. He put on 20 lbs of muscle in the offseason, so I hope he realizes how much that extra effort pays off and continues to improve this offseasn.

Sorry to see his season end think way...but happy for the improvements he solidified this year. Hope to see even better next year.

Based on an interview he gave earlier in the year about his improved defense, It sounds like he's matured into a veteran player that values working hard to improve every day. Once that cast comes off I bet he'll be looking to make next season another memorable one. He really showed some skills at the plate and at third.
