Three sliders....double play.... He got the job done.

 

Now....do you send him out there in the 8th? Or do you let him take this small victory and let him build on it?

Jeez i dunno. If Burton or Perkins have anything in the tank, I would throw them out there. Capps it pitching the 9th no matter the score.

I just worry he's going to sit in the dugout and think about the next inning.....And then he'll go out and press.

My guess is Liriano comes out for the 8th.

I send Liriano back out for the 8th but Perkins could probably go again. Another run or five would be nice.

If Blackburn didn't suck and yesterday wasn't so 'pen heavy, I would have gone lefty/righty with Liriano, Burton, and Perkins.

If there was any doubt about what other teams think about Mauer, you just had proof.

 

1st base open, runner on 2nd, RH hitter on deck, RH pitcher on the mound, 1 run game in the 9th, and they pitch to him. With a fastball.
