It's the only reason I can kid... Because I'm already feeling it. True Story... I was coaching baseball last week. The game was being umped by a 20 something umpire who is also a linebacker at the University of North Dakota. I asked him what his 40 time was and he said 4.7. I then starting giving him crap... 4.7... I could beat that and he laughed so I said... Yeah... Let's race right now.

So we did... My 48 year old body and his collegiate athlete body... Home to 1st... Anyway... I hung with him for half way down the line... We were right in stride... and then my legs just gave out and down I went. It was weird... It was like my legs turned into empty air mid stride and down I went. They Just quit and I knew it when it happened that I was going to plunge to the turf.

I've ran a little a bit lately but I've never really tried to go full speed... My Legs just said to me... Nope... I'm not going to let you do that... At your age.

Bilateral leg weakness is a bitch isn't it?

I have a Bianci Grizzley that I bought almost 18 years ago. It's a 21" frame with 26" wheels. You have me by an inch, but I have you by 10 lbs. I used to do some serious boony bashin with it. I'm no serious enthusiast, but if you plan on riding on the road, I'd go with the bigger wheels.

That's what I'm thinking. I neglected to include that I expect to use the bike for very mixed purposes including as much pavement as I can find off of highways - but with occasional dirt trail use, and a touring bike on dirt would be much stupider than a mountain bike on pavement.

Any mountain bikers in the audience? I'm thinking of getting my first, so I don't have much personal experience to fall back on. One question is wheel size. 26 or 29? (FWIW I'm 6'1" and 185 lb, and have pretty much decided on 21" frame.)

I'm no expert, but I'd recommend wheels.

Did Dazzle just say Arcia drew his 2nd walk? Of the game?

You heard correctly.

Off Road Biking in the Lake Tahoe area. You are going to need cougar repellent.

Oh and Some Mountain Lion Repellent as well.

I used to ride mine about 10 miles to work every day, and it sure felt like I was flying. My wife has a hybrid, with the deep tread on the outside of the tires. She does just fine off road with that as well.

I have a hybrid bike ... or that's what the bike guy told me it was.

Wow ... cold front.

I know. Nice breeze today, too. Similar to the cool blast you get when you open your oven and lean in nice and close.

Shoot. Casey Fiend messes up Gardy's strategy of a 3 run bomb by Parms in the bottom of the 8th and a save by Perkins. Now all three guys have to reach base in front of Parms.

Doesn't the power company suffer brownouts when everybody is trying to do this all at the same time?

Not a frequent worry. The bears eat them all.

Don't worry, those are a type of bike. I don't know if your's is one, but that type of bike certainly exists.

I'd still go with RB's suggestion of getting something with more than one wheel.

Carrying a spare does sound prudent.

Surprised you didn't pull your Ekornes out there to enjoy the day.

I've been about 10' from a grizzly sow and her 2 cubs. I just threw that underwear out.

My bike guy told me that I was buying a hybrid as well. I didn't feel like driving a Prius though.

Which son, Kyle?

I need to double-check with one of my baseball yodas in town. His wife -- the local gal -- was in our shop a few years ago at the holidays and was telling about her father-in-law's death at age 60.

That was a bummer. I remember playing in their Airstream when I was a little kid.

Two strikeouts and a popout. Not quite how the script was laid out.

yikes. Gardy's gonna have to come up with some serious managin' here.

Gardy: You guys might want to try hitting the ball where they're not.

Walk off wins are more fun anyway.
