Short term Correia throwing a good game was bad. It will guarantee him at least two more starts. Mid term if Correia can put several good games together he will become attractive as trade bait. I want to see Meyer and May up but the two logical candidates based on performance are Nolasco and Correia ant the organization is going to give them a good size leash and they both threw 1 run ball against the Yankees. At least Pelfrey is out of the equation for the time being.

Someone has to say it: what other team, with one of the worst starting staffs in all of MLB, would sit on a top AAA pitcher and keep him from helping improve the big league club?

 

Why? What possible reason, once past Super Two, is May not up here?

 

That's an unconscionable lack of "feel" for the team, the fans and the future of a franchise. Yet, with the Twins, making poor roster decisions -- this is what they do.

 

From Bartlett, to Kubel, to Guerrier, the Twins are not trying to build a team that can compete now and in the future, but are on some weird nostalgia-driven "Lost in Space" mismanagement exercise that is not going well and will not end well.

Hicks barely played let alone dominated AAA like May has. That's what makes the way they promote players so confounding. They force feed others who show haven't showed they are ready yet coddle and hold back others who dominate at the highest level.

May hasn't dominated any level in quite some time. I'm perfectly fine letting him stay in AAA for a bit longer. There are still sample size issues here and it would be nice to see that walk rate drop a bit more. I don't think a minor leaguer walking 3.6/9 is going to come into the majors and do exceptionally well.

 

He will be up when a position vacates. Unless Nolasco gets hurt or they finally cut bait with KC, it may be another month or two. You don't guarantee millions to a guy so you can cut him after 2 bad months.

Jason Kubel has two more strikeouts today so far. Any chance Vargas replaces him if the Twins let Kubel go? I'm guessing they want to give him more time in the minors.

Answer is every single other team. No team is going to sign guys for multi year contracts for big money and then not give them at least a half a year barring worse performances than we have seen so far. It is likely if Corriea had bombed his last two outings he would be sent down but that is not the case. I would have been all right with a youth movement but can you imagine the Twins sitting patt and then have Meyer and May bust along with Gibson and Deduno? Deduno replaced Pelfrey and Nolasco and Correia both have their ERA's under 6. Not a great stat until you consider they have spent most of the season over 6. Pitching is trending positive. They allowed 4 fewer runs in May even though they played one more game. Offense shrunk considerable though. June off to a great start for both.
