Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted June 17, 2018 Posted June 17, 2018 Jeff Johnson talked to Royce Lewis this morning about his knee issue. Lewis noted that he was diagnosed with patellar tendinitis awhile ago, but it's something that he can play through. There will be days when it flares up as it has this week. Twice this week he has left a game. http://www.thegazette.com/subject/sports/minor-league/cedar-rapids-kernels-top-prospect-royce-lewis-plays-through-knee-issue-20180617 Rest is what is needed. He didn't play today (Sunday). Monday is an off day. Tuesday is the All Star game, and he may play a couple of innings. He's got Wednesday off. Thursday the second half starts.
Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2018 Posted June 17, 2018 Put him on the DL and shut him down until it clears. No need to risk any damage.
AZTwin Verified Member Posted June 17, 2018 Posted June 17, 2018 Yep. Takes a few weeks to clear up. Just get it done with.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted June 18, 2018 Author Posted June 18, 2018 That's my thought too... He's probably moving up to Ft. Myers. So, they could promote him, and then put him on the Miracle DL and have him at their main facilities working on his knee... and don't activate him for the week or even two. Then he can come back strong when he begins with the Miracle.
Platoon Verified Member Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 The scary part is that when the Twins medical staff says someone has a minor knee issue, there is a good chance the leg will be amputated in a month. .

It won't likely be amputated for at least 6 weeks.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 Oh stop it ... and read heezy’s article on it. http://twinsdaily.com/topic/30343-article-royce-lewis-patellar-tendinopathy/
ashbury Verified Member Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 Oh stop it ... and read heezy’s article on it.I was disappointed that Heezy's article failed to discuss the pros and cons of amputation. It's not as simple a decision as posters here are making it out to be, particularly when the long-term effects on the player's career are considered.
