USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Twins fans: we need your help! We love our game threads. Where else on the Internet can you find, in one spot, lengthy discussions of the merits of Ginger vs Maryann, endless "Princess Bride" references, and a strong collection of the corniest jokes this side of Iowa? PLUS, you never know when someone might mention something baseball related! Riverbrian has done a fantastic job in the past of setting up game threads with "5 things to think about," and Chitowntwinsfan has added the lineups...and away we go. This year, we would like to try something just a bit different...we would like to see game threaders involved in setting up game threads. Our preliminary plan is to have Riverbrian do the setup for the first game of each series, just like he's always done. We are asking for volunteers to do the game thread setup, and post lineups, for the remaining games of each series. We want to keep it to one person per series. We would ask you to stay loosely within the "5 things to think about" format, although if, like RB, math is difficult for you, four or six works. We like positivity, too, as who wants to watch a baseball game with a frown on your face before the Twins have even fallen behind? We would want the game thread up at least a couple hours before game time. We will be in contact with volunteers later to cover details about how to start a thread, how to edit, etc. TD owners are considering making the game threads a front page link, and we will help with all of that if and when necessary. All mods will be a PM away to help with anything, for that matter. If you have questions, post them here. If you want to volunteer, please do not do so in this thread. Send a PM to USAFChief, and let me know which series you can take on. Series:

Willihammer Provisional Member Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Would it help if I created a google calendar that people could look at and sign up for bulletin board style?
stringer bell Verified Member Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I have to check my "busy" schedule, but I'll certainly volunteer to take on a couple of series. Writing in tandem with RiverBrian--dream or nightmare?

VandyTwinsFan Verified Member Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 I'd love to do this for a Rangers series, but I have a huge fear of commitment...
clutterheart Verified Member Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 This site has game threads? How do those work? Do you have to keep refreshing your browser? The comment interface seems like it would be slow and annoying. I like SB nation's comment system (like at twinkietown.com) It seems like its much better for live game

And it's not such a big deal to refresh the browser; and if new comments pop up as you are writing a comment, you can view them before you post yours.

formerly33 Verified Member Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Can I volunteer later in the year? I won't be able to do games before the school year ends because my ability to go on the computer at consistent times is just too glitchy, but starting in June I should be able to go on any time allotted to me. If the books are filled before I have a chance to volunteer, I would love to do so next year!

When school ends, just PM Chief and let him know when you'd like to jump in. It's still early so we've had only a few commitments so far.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 I check a couple of different places for lineups. Here are a few of them: http://mlbstartingnine.com/ http://www.baseballpress.com/lineups http://www.rotowire.com/baseball/daily_lineups.htm I like the Baseball Press one best. I also check the Twins website, too, but I usually find it in those other places first. Figured this was a fine reference to pass on to future Gamethreaders...
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Figured this was a fine reference to pass on to future Gamethreaders...If the lineups aren't in those places, don't feel you have to put one out there and go with something 'suspect.' It's okay to wait until they are posted on a somewhat official site.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 May is wide open for game thread vols. Who's next?
