  1. Like these recaps and your overall upbeat style!
  2. I would extend Gibson. I would bet this will be his prime, the next three/ four years. Looked like he had everything at his disposal yesterday after 200 innings. Dialed in!
  3. In one fewer start Gibby has 191 innings vs Odo at 164. About an inning a start. 3.6 vs 1.5 war. I would say more was expected of Odo which could impact that impression.
  4. I think money is just one factor. They definitely have set themselves up well in that department. My reference to a shopping spree is they don't just get to choose what they put in the cart but the products have a say plus there is only one of each on the shelf so you have competition from other shoppers to contend with. It sure is fun to imagine your ultimate FA team but quite another to actually pull it off.
  5. Yep just like a trip to Aldi, "aww just toss it in the cart"
  6. I think is important to add that radar guns may have cause a damaging fixation on pitch velocity resulting in the rise of this injury.
  7. Sano should have a full off season and no reason why he can't show up ITBSOHL (in the best shape of his life). One look at him in the spring may be telling. I would think Buxton would be super motivated, whether or not the twins need to be vilified in his motivational equation I guess we'll find out. The clubhouse seemed to have good chemistry early on while they were still in it. They seemed to be a fun bunch. The poor performances or absences of at least a half dozen key team members ground down all the good vibes
  8. I don't know, if someone in the trades is that good they usually will go out on their own with the ability to make unlimited money or create a business at any scale. Just like sports the most driven in any business or occupation will take it as far as they do. The 10000 hour rule would apply here. In sports or any activity the best have put in an obsessive amount of work, an amount many would not be willing to replicate.
  9. This is what I've been thinking about today after reading on this site about the great run he's been on. I think both Rogers and Hildenberger have proven to be reliable and useful bullpen pieces. Let's hope Molly can practice some restraint with them the rest of the way.
  10. I don't see how anyone can say things are worse that all those 90 loss seasons. Those were some super high draft picks, if they don't pan out this will just take longer. Houston is where they are because their super high draft picks did pan out. This FO has made moves to improve the farm at every opportunity. I am bothered by some of the 40 man/ rule five stuff and the current marginal talents in the lineup. The angst over Buxton is overblown. Gibby got sent down twice something Ryan's regime wouldn't have done and it worked. That was some tough love. If Buxton is complaining now i hope it is in front of a mirror. Some of these guys need to understand the toughness it takes to be a Correa or Lindor. Talent is great but even the best are supreme grinders.
  11. off-seasons are for dreaming (is it off-season already) and I agree with birdwatcher I would be aggressive in signing Caballo.
  12. That whole would be overflowing with Escobar and prospects!!
  13. So now that the games don't count Molly is operating the pen quite nicely. When the games count it's damn the torpedoes. I would've like to see this approach and these players all year.
  14. Why do you suppose it is that certain opposing players always perform better against the Twins than they do against other clubs? Because of the level of talent they are facing. Period! Maybe you never saw the look on Chris Sale's face when he was getting rocked again by the lowly twins a couple of years ago. The only team he was struggling against in a very stark statistical contrast. Your just cherry picking. Not just players but small runs they go on. Goodrum was doing great until he struck out against hildy with the game on the line. Sometimes wee see what we want to see.
  15. Not only does the bullpen roster look better but the usage isn't cringe inducing lately! If there was real change in how Molly spread out the workload I wouldn't have many complaints with him. Now hildy needs a couple of days off. Maybe he could use Tom's chart!
  16. This is what this time of year is for if you are out of it. Perfect time to let a young guy struggle. I like what they have done with Stewart. The microscope will clearly illustrate what he needs to work on. If he wants it as bad as Berrios does he has a chance. 97 on the gun? Geez there is something to work with there. With him the struggle is learning to pitch. Learning to use his stuff. It was reported here he met with the brass this spring and was schooled on a new approach he is just implementing this year. Remember he was a football player too whereas with Gonsalves it has all been about pitching for a long time. I think with Gonsalves and his less overwhelming stuff he already knows how to pitch but the brass wants him to fine tune his command. They apparently feel he's not ready to take his lumps quite yet. We still could see him this fall.
  17. I don't mean to stand there and gaze at my moon shot above but look at that rotation. They all hit at least 95. This looks like the double stuff version of the usual twins rotation. Lets do it!
  18. Gibby is really really for real. So happy they didn't trade him. Mejia was looking good; too bad. Who knows what the future holds for him. Gotta stock up on starters. It will be interesting to see if May gets a chance to start next year. We can see how his back holds up as a reliever for the rest of the year. I was in the May as a starter camp but her sure has looked good. Odorizzi seemed like a good pick up at the time but now that I've seen more he just looks like a bullpen killa. It won't happen but get rid of him and give May his last chance to start next year. If that doesn't pan out we've got a real nice bullpen piece. 2019 rotation: Berrios Gibby Pineda May Romero Looks like we'd be missing some of the usual mediocrity...
  19. it'll be very interesting to see where May ends up. I've always thought starter should be the goal and they are more valuable. On top of that his body seemed to break down with the rhythm of the relievers workload. That being said he could be quite the piece for the pen. Either way with that new bionic arm we definitely have something here.
  20. Nobody said anything about keeping Forsythe. There was one comment saying if he got back to previous form he might be a placeholder. I'm not interested in that but Gordon has faded badly the last three years. He needs to figure that out. The FO can't win. They're too slow calling guys up, but maybe they rushed Buxton.
  21. Went out to the garage and missed May @#@$&!#?@$ it. No DVR today, so how's he look?
  22. A skill not often mentioned in any sport is protecting yourself. You can't play or play well if your not on the field. His reckless play is fun to watch but had clearly cost him overall.
