  1. The problem: trading Gordon alone will not yield the young controllable pitching we would want in return. Our other high prospects to add are pitchers we cannot afford to let go. We do not want to give up the “core four.” No other team will assign substantial trade value to Rosario or Escobar. Ergo, we keep him (unless another team wants to do something silly)
  2. Good for Granite....and good for the minor leagues to know that hard work and productivity will be rewarded even for prospects outside of the top 10!
  3. #3-5 starting pitching is a dumpster fire….IF Colon could CONSISTENTLY provide 5-6 innings of with 4-ish runs allowed, he would be a huge improvement. No risk what-so-ever and maybe someday we won’t need 13-14 pitchers on the 25 man roster!
  4. It's becoming harder and harder for me to ignore Sano's strike out rate. With his power, I have zero concerns that his home run total would take a hit if he focused more on contact.
  5. There is much to be optimistic about for this team but.... "no position player has made 12 relief appearances in his career, much less one season." This is a microcosm of our season. Our pitching staff has NO chance to guide us to any purposeful postseason run. ALL deadline decisions should be made for the future (and I would argue 2019).
  6. What are Max Murphy's limitations/weaknesses? What does he need to work on to progress from the fringe into mainstream prospect land? Thanks
  7. I think that Max Murphy has quietly pulled himself up a chair to the Twins prospects table. Good for him.
  8. Alan Busenitz demoted. Belisle and his 1.65 WHIP and 6.53 ERA over a not-so-SSS of 30.1 innings...... The only logical remaining question is: What compromising information does Belisle have on the FO?
  9. A few points: 1. This is actually another referendum on our beleaguered pitching staff. When THREE starters in the rotation cannot be reliably penciled in for 5 or more innings, you have to have an extra pitcher (and a catcher who can pitch). This of course leads to 4 instead of 5 outfielders. 2. Rosario, Kepler, and Bux have not established themselves as unassailable outfield starters (though I do so like Kepler). I LIKE the idea of Granite up here pushing them in person. He will work extra hard to take their jobs when/if they think they are owed something. 3. Grossman has done great things with his OBP and is clearly a ‘sabermetrics’ asset at the top of the lineup. But flexibility is also key to succeed in a long baseball season. Granite provides that. Grossman is a one (very good) trick pony. Try to trade him, but if unsuccessful let him go catch on elsewhere. (I understand this will be very controversial). Give Granite a month as a 5th outfielder with Vargas in AAA. If he plays in MLB then move Grossman in the best way possible and bring Vargas back up.
  10. How soon? …. Depends on how fast the twins want to fall out of playoff contention this year
  11. We are totally cool staying in E-Town and whooping up on these little kids. Yeee Haaah, Rooker and Albanese
  12. Hey, I didn’t know this was a request string! I’m getting super board in AA Sincerely yours, Nick Gordon
  13. Dear Twins, We didn't realize that you accepted mail until seeing Z. Granite's message. So .....As long as you are accepting input, while we will have a few bumps during the transition, we are very confident that we can pitch better that the starters that you are rolling out in the #3-5 spots. Thanks for listening, Gonslaves and Romero PS. It’s me Romero…..I could also make that bullpen better like yesterday if you want to give me great experience while limiting my overall innings this year.
  14. Dear Twins, I hear that you don't have a traditional lead off man, your 4th outfielder is really a DH and a catcher batting around 0.200 has been playing some left field. Ummmm, I think I can be of help and I hear speed translates well to the big leagues. Give me a call sometime. Sincerely, Z. Granite
  15. Any trade should include our infielders (only position of depth especially after we inexplicably bypassed two pitchers that could help us in the next two years so we could add to our only organizational strength). After our draft, BOTH Gonslaves AND Romero need to hit for us to have long term success.... I hope and believe this can happen, but we definitely have left ourselves with little room for error (remember that other teams with more money will swoop up any FA pitching talent....we have to get lucky with the second tier)
  16. Don’t have the exact numbers, but it appears that Rortvedt has been handling himself better at the plate of late….
  17. Ugh....when I first saw the headline, I thought he had been called up already I wish I knew what the Twins thought he still had to work on to be a better option than ...uh....50% of our current bullpen.
  18. This x10.....no way is Jay top 10 in the bullpen (and injured)
  19. I agree that big free agent pitching is not the way to go per se....but thou must obtain good pitching somewhere and help is a long way off in this draft.... I assume you are counting Berrios as #2..... I hope and think this to be correct but would like to see a full half season of consistent play first
  20. Fernando "Dear God please be the real thing after our draft" Romero?!
  21. Just to be clear.... the strategy "allowed" the Twins to obtain Leach. If they played it "straight" at #35 and #37, they could have had Enlow and Rooker anyway. They cut a deal with Enlow and/or realized that no one between the 30-70s could pay over slot...... They did this so they could take Leach as well....presumably before someone else took him before the 70s and he signed with another team for the slot money there. So.....really, it is Leach that will determine how fancy the FO was with this draft. And it will really be Wright to watch and not Greene to determine if they misjudged....We currently have 1 ultra reliable starter and the next 100s of millions of $$$ ACE that the twins sign in FA will be the first one!!!! .... all the while....the window for a potentially lethal line up may be opening up in very soon.
  22. I think there is a pretty decent chance based on these picks that the FO dynamic duo completely outsmarted themselves….the people they were ‘saving slot money for’ were gone for these picks…..this one draft day could end up having huge impact on their half-life in their current positions. (yep, I’m going there) I believe that they are talented, but I also believe that they are prone to thinking they are the smartest people in every room which leave them susceptible to exactly what played out today…… Man do I hope I’m dead wrong….
  23. Can we judge now? We finally are stocked with SS prospects in our system, so we draft…. A SS…. We have a dearth of starting pitching with probably our single 1.1 pick this decade and next and we….pass on any potential ACE…. I know the front office has forgotten more about baseball than I know, but boy, if they thought this was the ‘safe’ play for this draft….I beg to differ. Based on their choices, this will actually turn out to be a VERY high risk draft for their careers. (It may play out well, but if not…..yikes…) So far, if I had to guess, they outsmarted themselves (which is indeed a common ailment for brash and over-confidant youth……)
