  1. Ditto that. He's had positive production in spots, deserves a longer look. NG stealing 3rd was great fun....more of that please!
  2. Loved the story! Interesting guy and talent....shows there are some cool people and things to experience at TF....thanks Melissa and TD for supporting these types of stories, I think theyre great. Keep 'em comin!
  3. This fallow fellow 18 is cold...cruel...a cosmic jokester, mocking our heros and we too.....Strike then the foul beastial stick and snowman from all things Twins---no player shall don the threads bearing its sullen presence, no fan to plant cheeks in any seat so marked, no ticket bearing this caustic symbol of failure sold until the veil is lifted, and the curse, like the scapegoat, is banished forever to the desert wasteland of shadow and blight...until that day of days......when the playoff is won, or the other loses, no matter, its all the same, one wins because one loses, but not to one plus seventeen or beyond....such a thing is unimagineable, impenetrable, unspeakable, no logic can shape what lies beneath this......only in its vanquishing and then and only then ought that number which shall not be counted be allowed into speech and hearing. Until that day of days, our eyes should divert and ears shall close at its mentioning, for the shame is too great to bear.
  4. This. And, the guy who going to start game 7 no matter the rotation sequence.
  5. Question is contending for what exactly? If its 3rd WC, they have a chance. If its legitimately winning games and series in the playoffs....just not happening with the current roster, and that's without the spate of injuries. It's going to be patch and hope for awhile. I would prefer Archer or Bundy to reinforce the 'pen, but we need Ryan and Gray to return asap and ready to put up #'s similar to what they have so far. But Archer/Bundy doesnt solve all the BP woes...and yeah, agreed with Nick, the Rogers trade looks like a loser in retrospect. It may be heresy to say this, but I will say it again...they have value in experienced infield positions, and lots of young options that need rep's real-time. And so I am looking for one of Correa or Polanco to move at the deadline, preferably Correa. Either (should) bring a pitching prospect in return, and moving one of them opens a spot for one of the young guns. I would be looking at it because I dont believe 2022 is a legit threat to make a run in playoffs, even if they get there this year. They need to prep their young guys to perform next year, and build more quality, and more depth, front to back in the pitching staff for next year.
  6. Agreed. I like Gordon more off the bench, not starting, but no other choices right now. Fingers crossed Gray and Ryan are back soon, and if so, it seems a good time for one of Bundy or Archer to move to the pen. Leaves the problem with #'s in rotation, but we haven't seen a quality start from either of them for some time, and probably should not expect its going to get any better. Maybe those two combo for 6 innings, but I dont trust them 2 times through a batting order at this point. Maybe Sands can show something tomorrow. Smeltzer deserves a long look, he has earned a chance to stick around this time. Depth looks good one day, then an injury or two, and suddenly not so much. This has the makings of an ugly two week stretch.
  7. I double that question. Gordon was the obvious option Sunday. Raises further question for Kiriloff. Other options are emerging for Twins....Arraez is supported by Rocco at 1B, Celestino is emerging as genuine player, Larnach seems to be figuring things out, Kepler shows signs of life, Steer, Miranda, Martin knocking on the IF door....if reporting on Kiriloff's injury status is true, no further surgery needed on wrist, does he just need to figure out how to adapt? Maybe the competition will prod for him. All that said, I hope the wrist is not a serious long term injury concern. He looks to have great career potential. But the Twins are developing depth and legit options. I dont see any position guaranteed for him, at least not today. Provactive proposition of the week: Assuming Lewis is good to go by July 4th, should not the Twins take offers on Correa? Regardless of standings. Lewis showed enough to give us hope that he is the future at SS . Twins are not legit WS contenders this year. If they were, then holding Correa would make sense. For 2-3 months of Correa at about 15M, somebody would more than likely pay a high level pitching prospect. Twins should explore trade possibilities, and if something emerges that makes sense to build SP or BP for 2023 and beyond, then make the trade, and let the Lewis era begin at SS....assuming, he is not dealing with a longer term situation with his knee.
  8. Ah yes, a radio, the Twins broadcast, and chores.......doesnt get much better than that!
  9. Nice to see the Big Boys giving our guys some love! Will it continue? https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/powerrankings/
  10. Per Yahoo, 4 innings of scoreless ball results in Twins increasing Win Probability to 57.4%....... Should be 147.8% when 0-0 in the 9th
  11. 0-3 in top of 1st increased Twins Win Probability to 53. 7 %?
  12. Points out the pending logjam when Lewis comes up as well....what to with Urshela and/or Sano. Something will have to give and I'd bet on Sano finding a new home by the trade deadline, even if they have to take back salary. Miranda and Lewis deserve some extended time on the 26 to acclimate and evaluate. Urshela at least brings stable D and have to believe he will start hitting again. It just feels like we are reaching the end of Sano's time here by the force of circumstances, and his uninspiring level of play.
  13. Excellent posting, and lots of hope for Correa and Twins
  14. True, but if unequal application of the terms of the agreement can be proven, as Buaer will more than likely argue, the discipline can be reduced or overturned. I believe Bauer is limited to arbitration on appeal, regardless, he will probably make his case by comparing his punishment to previous cases disciplined under this section of the 2016 CBA. Regarding previous comments about privacy and fairness, privacy claims go away when a criminal complaint and/or charge is brought against an adult for sexual assault. (Minors are protected-case in point, new Vikings draftee Ed Ingram). Anonymity is different than privacy, and is granted to accusers/victims of sexual assault, but privacy is not- frequently, accusers are required by courts to disclose medical and personal details to investigators and courts. Regarding the policy, domestic violence definitions are not limited by consent. That there was physical and sexual violence does not seem to be in dispute, although I suppose Bauer could have tried to defend himself by arguing the actions did not meet a reasonable definition of violence. It would seem a high mountain for him to climb though. So, is this just a personal pecadillo of Bauer's, and is he unfairly having his personal life run through the mud? Or....not? I believe his actions and public attempts at justifying those actions reek of a narcissistic, misogynistic, violent personality. His actions caused great harm to another person. I hope he finds genuine help before he harms someone beyond repair. He may have been clever enough to create enough doubt to limit his criminal exposure, but that came at a great cost. His public statements about the case tarnished his reputation beyond repair. The chances of another MLB team taking him on when his suspension is over is probably nil, and I don't think that is unfair. He doesn't seem to have remorse, or, elite talent to the point that some team would try to rehabilitate him by setting up some sort of treatment and management program. LAD might have cause to claim breach of contract, so, he then tries to reach a settlement with LAD and agrees to teminate the contract. Then if he really thinks he wants to continue in baseball, may find chances in Korea or Japan. But if MLB is going to take their own policies seriously, and demonstrate true support for those victimized by sexual assaults, they should not only impose the suspension, but figure out a way to help him move elsewhere if what he wants is to continue a career in pro ball. And MLB should seize the opportunity to take the lead in pro sports in supporting victims of domestic/sexual assaults. I've spent this entire post talking about Bauer and what he might want, and not one word about this woman and what her life is like. Her experiences and those of others treated in this way deserve respect and due process, and it appears this policy may be the only thing that can deliver a semblance of that for her.
  15. Looks like Twins will need a dugout visit from Dr Longball.
  16. Yes sir, recently discovered Jerome Richardson, what a rush.
  17. Not braggin, but maybe a bit....a necessary thing it is imho
  18. Here's the relevant section of the Domestic Violence Agreement MLB/MLBPA agreement: Domestic violence includes, but is not limited to, physical or sexual violence, emotional and/or psychological intimidation, verbal violence, stalking, economic control, harassment, physical intimidation, or injury....Sexual assault refers to a range of behaviors, including a completed non-consensual sex act, an attempted nonconsensual sex act, and/or nonconsensual sexual contact. It seems likely MLB has concluded that Bauer has violated both areas of domestic violence and sexual assault. The just cause language later in the agreement gives the Commissioner disciplinary powers similar to standard personnel policies. Just so, its a stunning precedent if it stands, and if nothing else, is going to get the serious attention not only of Mr Bauer but of everyone across the league. And that is a good thing IMHO. Agree with others here though the extent of the suspension is at risk under Bauer's appeal, unless there are facts not yet publicly known. Commissioner has a fair amount of latitude but precedents can limit that. The defamation suit is a distraction-it doesn't seem like a serious case, but it can be used as leverage in negotiating future civil settlements, as long as the courts allow the case to continue. This will be interesting to follow. More than anything it points out the ambiguity around the mish-mash of state and federal laws and court defined precedents around consent, and the evidence that is allowed and weighted in support of allegations or denials. The lessons for MLB are many, but maybe best summarized as MLB and team franchises need to be abundantly clear with players and all employees of MLB and franchises that the consequences for actions in violation of this policy will be substantial-as they should. For many victims, who are otherwise unable to support the high standards of proof for criminal prosecutions and convictions, these types of penalties are a significantly supportive statement. I'm not saying this is conclusive proof of her allegations over his denials, but on the whole, MLB has clearly come down on the side of the accuser, and I think this will help move the league and its teams to work very hard to prevent this type of conduct in the future, and create a more a more equitable environment for the investigation and resolution of any future claims.
