    I think the phrase goes something like "Better the devil you know...." After Wimmers and Rosario flamed out, I think management is simply too gun shy to assume anyone down in AAA or AA is better than those two. It's a sad state of affairs!

    Walk, walk, HR to start the game. Santiago's looking like the odd man out in this rotation all of a sudden. Worse than Gibby.

    Like many of you, Pressly was NOT on my list of 'players to worry about' when the season started. Even when he struggled early. Having one of our 'reliable' guys go down in flames is not a good sign!

    You are right. And I didn't watch the game today (was traveling) and by the time I got home the Astros were in the midst of a record-setting inning. I didn't mean to stick up for Molitor. I just meant to also lay some blame on the bullpen. I wish Molitor had been fired prior to the season, ownership really handcuffed the new brass with their ultimatum regarding the hometown guy keeping his job. Molitor's set this team back in regards to development and I hope he gets fired. Alas, the Twins will have to tank into last place before we see that happen, I'm afraid.

    I haven't been a Molitor fan since his hiring (I was rooting for Douggie Mkvxz to get the job). The guy doesn't have the chops. That said, he didn't give up 13 runs in the 8th tonight, that was all on the pitchers. It would be one thing if the game was 4-2 or something, and the Twins lost 5-4. But this complete implosion isn't really something Molitor could control. This was an utter disaster, coming a day after Kintzler gutted this team with his garbage on the mound. Has the free fall we've all been dreading arrived?

    I'm watching the Rays broadcast and they're loving every minute of that dive. Apparently he's a goofball and his kooky antics are a big hit. To be honest, I kinda liked that dive too!

    The Twins have lots of problems on the pitching staff. Pressley doesn't even make the Top 3 in the "guys to worry about" department.

    Good point. This test will indeed be tricky, with no Santana or Berrios going the Twins are going to have to produce with the bats. The one explosion in Baltimore was against a going-down-in-flames Ubaldo Jimenez. Doing the same thing against the likes of Archer, Odorizzi and Cobb will take more effort. The Twins are going to need to score 4-5 runs in more than one game in this series to win it.

    I agree that drafting a High School pitcher with the #1 overall pick is risky. The recent #1 overall pitchers who have had success are David Price and Stephen Strasburg, and both of them came from college programs. That said, last year 6 high school pitchers were taken in the first 17 picks, which is a record high. So maybe the trend is moving towards taking high upside guys and developing the raw talent. I think Greene fits that mold. If Favley and Levine are in charge, I will trust the process if they take him.
