  1. Oh Gibby, let's get some outs here. Stop this right now.
  2. Ump seems to have a liberal strike zone here.
  3. Sano seems to be swinging and missing on that low and outside borderline pitch with regularity these days. Go the other way, man!
  4. Dozier in that 2nd half groove...
  5. I wholeheartedly concur. I worry about "you-know-who" getting a start as he's back in the dugout, but I think Gee's earned this one. Another win! Let's keep the streak going tonight fellas!
  6. Rosario's really become a solid bat in the lineup. You gotta feel great for Polanco! Santana again with a nice quality start. Remember a few years ago when Kevin Correia led the team with 9 wins? Cool to see Santana and Berrios in double-digits. Not a pretty win? At this point, many of us will take any win we can get. Hope they pull off the mini-sweep today, go Adalberto!
  7. One thing I'm not ignoring is Rogers' 24.00 ERA in his last 6 appearances. He's getting crushed, dude.
  8. Folks, the book's out on Rogers. Since July 20 he's got a 24.00 ERA in 6 appearances. The magic fairy dust has worn off, and it's batting practice out there. A recurring theme this year for the Twins: a player who was once looked upon as a team strength has become a major weakness. Santiago, Polanco, Duffey, Grossman, now Rogers.
  9. Dozier getting hot. The Twins need a shot in the arm offensively, hope this provides a spark. Would be fun to see this team win a few in a row and get back above .500!
  10. Nice article, thanks for working to put all this together! Great stats.
  11. Kepler's striking out with RISP like crazy lately. He seems to be in a funk since the ASB.
  12. I went to Petco 3 years ago, caught a Rockies v. Padres afternoon getaway game there. If I recall correctly, Ian Kennedy had a no-hitter through 4 but then got roughed up and we left. Great little stadium. I like San Diego, nice town. I spent a couple weeks there and was thinking about moving to that city. Rent's expensive though, and most of the apartments available for an average person are pretty ramshackle. I figured that since I work from home, I'd prefer to live in a place where I can get a nice place for cheap. San Diego is not that place. Also - they didn't teach me this growing up in Minnesota - the water is COLD AS BALLS most of the time. There are a few months in the summer where you can go in without a wetsuit, but it's Lake Superior-esque in April, I know that!
  13. Good point about Garcia and Kintzler being free agents after the season.
  14. I was one of those who was very disappointed to hear the Twins were going to keep Molitor this year. Pohlad set this team's development back a year by giving Molitor a free pass with the new ownership, it was an extremely bush-league move. The guy's got the personality of a box of Triscuits. He couldn't even figure out how the double-switch works and 'dun goofed up a ballgame in Los Angeles for a half an hour while the umps explained it to him. Joke city. Alas, Molitor doesn't make up for lack of management talent with being a "good clubhouse guy" either. He's a wet blanket who was given a favor by the hometown team, and it's frankly an embarrassment. Much like fellow Minnesotan Glen Perkins, Molitor's time has passed and the time to move on from him was last year. The relentless scythe of change should have Molitor in its crosshairs and he shouldn't be kept on. Torii Hunter for manager, Doug Meinkewitcz #2 choice, or just grab a talented AAA guy from outside the organization.
  15. The Twins traded Eduardo Nunez last year and got a guy who was MLB ready. The guy (Mejia) has been a work in progress this season but he's been at the very least a decent back end pitcher, this his rookie season. He is just 24 years old. Will any of the prospects we received for Garcia and Kintzler be playing at Mejia's level by this time next season? Enns is 26 and at this point will be lucky to have a journeyman career. What about the rest of the dudes we acquired? Will any of them be "next year's Mejia"? Will Littell win 10 games in a Twins MLB uniform next year? Will Watson? If not, then what the heck were the Twins thinking? We've been "waiting 2 more years" forever and they keep pushing the end-date for this rebuild back.
  16. I am disappointed to get a low-A pitcher. Dealing one of the best relievers on the market for a guy who is years away? The Twins couldn't have done better dealing Kintzler to another team? A lot of things have to go right for Watson to make an impact. Think the Twins could have done better. I do like that half a mill in cash, though.
  17. I'm happy about the trade - nice flip of Garcia there. It appears that the Yankees wanted/needed to open up a 40-man spot and threw in Enns, but Littell is clearly the big name here. Glad to see the rebuild hopefully gaining traction. Winning was fun - but since the Twins are done winning it's time to see what this new 2-headed monster Falvine can do. Enjoyed this one, can't wait to see what's next!
  18. Wouldn't mind seeing him move up soon. I believe his rookie-league manager has already said that Royce should be in Cedar Rapids and has already proven himself worthy of a promotion.
  19. Fellow morning person here. Let's raise our coffee mugs and have a toast. Funny thing is I'm on Mountain Time, so these West Coast games shouldn't hurt me too badly....but I work on East Coast Time. So I'm up at 5:30am every morning and zonking out by 9:30, even on weekends! On the plus side, it's great waking up at 6am on a Saturday and feeling like I've "slept in". I can get all the boring stuff and chores done by 9 and the rest of the weekend I'm playing with house money.
  20. Sorry Mike, I didn't mean to offend - I saw a post here suggesting Garver should be platooning with Mauer at first base in 2019. To me that sounds like Garver Fever and the only cure is more cowbell! We know next to nothing about this kid. All I know is that he's playing well but before this year he's never even been on the radar. He is indeed 26 and still playing in the minors which tells me something. Seriously, I would love to see the guy get called up and play instead of Giminez. Just trying to put the breaks on the Garver speculation when the dude hasn't even faced a pitch yet.
  21. Agreed. I notice the Garver chatter has become almost Buxton-like in its frenzy lately. He seems decent, but some of these posts make it sound like we've got a future All-Star in the wings. Garver hasn't even taken a MLB at bat yet. The probability that he's a long term, impact player is very low IMO. I think "Gaver Fever" exists because the current MLB team is taking and the season appears to be over, but it seems that some have very unreasonable expectations for this young lad.
  22. Someone made a great point about Santana yesterday on another thread. We'd love to see the Twins trade for a solid veteran pitcher in the offseason. A guy who can eat innings, pick up wins, stop the bleeding and have an ERA somewhere in the 3.20 range. Isn't that what we have in Santana? Garcia is one thing - he's a rental. But the Twins have Santana under control and we need reliable starting pitching...I can see trading Santana only if the Twins are going "scorched earth" and trading everyone else as well. They'd better get quite a haul if they trade Santana. I'd much prefer the Twins kept him, myself!
