  1. Por fin, los Twins estan jugando beisbol hoy! Gracias a dios!
  2. You also just compared stats that reflected negatively on Mauer. For example, you didn't compare career averages as a catcher, season highs in batting average (none of those other guys ever batted .365), MVP trophies, or OBP. So I'm guessing you were kinda trying to bash Mauer in relation to those other guys. No problem with that, you are entitled to your opinion. And you made some good points also. I agree Mauer's got an uphill battle but I do think he deserves heavy consideration for the HOF.
  3. None of them were catchers for the majority of their careers, though. I think that's Joe's ace in the hole.
  4. Some talk about Joe's HOF chances on another thread. Thought I'd add some food for thought: Johnny Bench had 2,048 hits Mike Piazza had 2,127 hits Carlton Fisk had 2,356 hits Yogi Berra had 2,150 hits Joe? He's already at 2,000 and will likely surpass all these guys. Yeah yeah, he's been at first base for a few of those games. I don't think that hurts him as much as some of you think.
  5. Buxton has really been cutting down on the K's. He's struck out just twice in his last 18 at-bats. Sano on the other hand....P.U. He is hammering the ball when he makes contact, though. And at this point Logan Morrison has been so terrible that moving Sano in the batting order isn't realistic.
  6. The ball was in the air for a year, and hit the top of the wall - the outfielder played a little deke move, but Joe shoulda scored. He had time and it was a deep shot.
  7. Let's play: "Will it Haunt"? Baserunning gaffes by Mauer, Sano cost the Twins a run in the first.
  8. C'mon Mauer, hustle home on that 2-bagger.
  9. Just posting my gut feelings on Morrison. Don't hate me, I'm making a bold call here: We all knew he wasn't as good as his numbers last year suggested. That said, I think he's not as good as we hoped and last year was really a flash-in-the-pan season.Kendrys Morales comes to mind. A guy who for whatever reason just isn't a "good fit" for this Twins team, and who would likely succeed elsewhere if the Twins traded/released him.I think the Twins will eventually release him.
  10. I was thinking the same thing last night...where's the bunt? But he's been in a strange place in the batting order and has come up with men on base a lot, and he seems to come to the plate with 2 outs a lot of times as well. But I do think he should start trying more often. Is his bunting ability below-average? I don't remember him being a particularly skilled bunter, alas.
  11. The final score should have been 9-1, not 4-1. That said, we'll take the 'W'. Let's win the series!
  12. 100% agreed. Going back to the 2nd half of 2017, Rogers has been one of the Twins' worst relievers. The Twins aren't short on bullpen arms, I also have no idea why anyone else wasn't pitching to Correa. Rosario: he hasn't been smooth out there, but the guy wants to win and CAN hit. Remember that throw a couple of nights ago in Pittsburgh? C'mon, give him a break. Sano striking out 3 times: barf. The Twins offense in general: terrible. Silver linings: Buxton has gone 0-4 his past two games but has NOT struck out in any of those at bats. He's putting the ball in play, that's huge. Those grounders are going to turn into singles real soon gang. Lynn: Hey, we'll take it. LoMo: Remember the Kendrys Morales experiement? This feels way too familiar. LaMarre & Grossman should be splitting at bats at DH right now. Get Kennys Vargas warmed up down there in Rochester.
  13. Agreed! The Twins are lucky to have snapped up Vargas again on waivers. They won 85 games last year with Vargas & Grossman DH'ing, maybe it's time to go back to that formula.
  14. Will Molitor wait until the Twins are 4-12 to take Morrison and Castro out of the every day lineup?
  15. Just awful. He needs to grab some bench. Give LaMarre or Grossman a shot, this is unbearable.
  16. Berrios had a no-hitter going, I think that's the only reason Sano threw that ball. Ended up being a bad decision, but I understand why he didn't put the ball in his pocket and instead took a chance.
  17. Add me to the list of fans clamoring for LaMarre. Logan Morrison could use a few days off, nothing wrong with sitting a guy who's struggling. Buxton went 0-4 yesterday but importantly did not strike out. He's ahead of where he was last year at this time...really hoping he starts making meaningful contributions offensively soon.
  18. How about Lamarre? Getting the start in the home opener and getting a base rap right off the bat. Grossman 0-4 today....is it possible Lamarre eventually lands in the right-handed DH spot and is the primary 4th outfielder? I'd be worried if I were Grossman.... Great comeback win! Nice to see Rodney put together a few scoreless (although not clean) innings over the past few nights, and get the save last night. We'll take it.
  19. Thanks Carole! I posted in the other thread about the issue. Go Twins!
  20. I've had some trouble logging into the site during game action - is TwinsDaily "down" for anyone else during peak times?
  21. The first post on this topic mirrored my thoughts. Lynn, Rodney, and Duke have performed poorly so far, and Reed has been walking too many guys also. What gives? The Twins' old pitchers are doing great, but all the new bullpen guys and the big name starter (with apologizes to Mr. Odorizzi) have been disappointing so far. Twins pitchers last year didn't seem to walk many guys. The walks yesterday were a real shock to the system, not used to seeing that. I was clutching my pearls! What the heck? Offensively, I'm really hoping Sano's late-inning double yesterday gets him off his "HR or K" mentality. He's a great hitter when he's mixing in singles and doubles and not thinking about HRs only. That walk Sano took late in the game was also a step in the right direction. Similarly, Buxton didn't get hits in his two late ABs, but he also didn't strike out. In fact he put decent wood on the ball and got it in play. That GIDP by Dozier really took the wind out of the Twins' sails after a valiant comeback attempt. The upcoming weather forecast is just brutal. I realize the Astros and Mariners aren't scheduled to come back to Target Field, but I think that playing in 38 degrees with freezing rain simply isn't possible. I am guessing we'll see at least 2 games PPD in the homestand, if not more. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole M's series was cancelled and just rescheduled for the off days during the All-Star break or something. Crazy stuff.
  22. Curveball, high fastball, curveball in the dirt. That's how to strike out Buxton in 3 pitches. The Pirates know this, we know this...seems the Twins hitting coaches do not.
  23. Tallon strikes out the side. With all the months spent on emphasizing pitching this off-season, one would think they'd have time to spend a few days stressing the importance of making contact. "Close your eyes and swing, boys!" appears to have been the instructions.
