  1. Kardiac Kinzler on the mound for the 9th...here we go!
  2. Woohoo! Twins win a nail-biter and Berrios books his flight, great way to start the morning.
  3. Agree on Santiago - he's been playing with fire all year and doesn't pitch deep into games. I think we'll see a cross between this year's Santiago and last year's Santiago when it's all said and done. Around 10 wins, a 4.80 ERA. He's a #5 starter on a decent team but on the Twins he's their #2 guy. Santana might just have a great year, not a sub 2 ERA year but a 15-20 win season is certainly in reach.
  4. I don't think he'll become Hicks, but I do think he has a future in MLB. I see him being a somewhat valuable role player for an NL team down the road. I don't think he's a good fit with the Twins but again I don't think he's total garbage. Chapman, on the other hand...well I'm guessing we'll see him sooner or later!
  5. Hughes hitting that 6th inning wall....
  6. Nice pop-up double Sano! We'll take it! Hey, Grossman too! 2-0!
  7. Does Buxton catch that ball? Kepler was a country mile from that when it landed.
  8. I can't eat donuts these days. Ladyfriend and I are hitting the beaches of Costa Rica in a month and she's determined we look trim and toned. This means NO SUGAR and daily trips to the gym. If I'm lucky I can sneak a graham cracker every once in a while. Took this photo out the window today. Lot of activity today, even got to see lava this morning before the sun came out. http://i68.tinypic.com/e289s.jpg
  9. Mauer is Mauer. Walks. Bloop singles. Groundouts. Choppers. More walks. The guy has such a good eye and he knows his bat is out of juice. So he'll just keep walking. Is that want you want from a #4 hitter? No. You want that out of a leadoff guy. But he can't run. So once again we have a problem. Mauer's an old player in a new era, a symbol of days past. Give him credit for going out there. Doesn't look like he's having much fun, but it never really did. Not sure whether to feel sorry for him, feel sorry for fans, or just grin and bear it. The Twins don't have much choice at this point, and neither do we.
  10. We're all frustrated and disappointed in Gibson this year. But a demotion of some kind (either to the 'pen or AAA) has been coming for a long time. It seems he had his best stuff in 2015, and also was extremely lucky - as were the Twins that year. That "perfect storm" earned him a much better reputation than he deserved. The reality: Gibson's a below-average MLB pitcher who is past his prime. Do the Twins have room for a player like that on a 1st place team that's also looking to develop young pitchers? I think we know the answer. Fal-Vine knows the answer too. Gibson's on super thin ice, and I don't think he'll be in the rotation for more than 2-3 more starts. Will a couple mediocre starts be enough to keep his job? Hope not.
  11. This A's manager is just letting Valdez wear it tonight.
  12. Mauer to the opposite field, gets in on the dong parade.
  13. Ha, I thought I was the only one who might have noticed that. This wasn't what Sherri had in mind when her husband said 'I got us tickets for tonight to celebrate your birthday'.
  14. Why is Castro batting in the 6 spot? Seems an odd place for the worst hitter on the team.
  15. Or a Dozier pop-up. Just imagine if Dozier was hitting like last year and Mauer was hitting .280. I think the Twins would be leading the division!
  16. Sano works a full count, fouls off a pitch and hits a bomb. WOO!
  17. Very happy with Polanco out there. Would love to see him playing every game. Not sure where that leaves Escobar (who I also like) but I feel like Polanco's already and every day SS and could have an All-Star season in a year or 2.
  18. I'm hoping for a mid-70s win team! That's my dream. I just can't handle another 59 win team, and I worry about that happening again if Bux continues to hit .107 all year.
  19. See, I agree with this post 100%. If the Twins are sitting 20 games out on July 1st, I have no problem with Bux playing every day. But when a team says "We're going to let this team fail", it's really hard to swallow as a fan. Buxton HAS lost this team a couple of games, let's be honest. Yes, his glove is helpful! But would you all be saying the same thing about defense if Castro was batting .105 and had struck out 50% of the time? I agree that the lineup is more interesting with Buxton in there. I also agree that the Twins should keep him in the lineup for now. But can we quit clapping for pop-outs and dribblers? He's struck out in every game he's played. Can we be honest that he's been a heartbreaking disaster so far? Everyone who says "keep Buxton in the lineup" is assuming he'll start to hit. But what if he doesn't? He hasn't so far. If he keeps going like this, you have to demote him. And by then, it'll be too late to salvage a season...so we'll have a crap season and Bux in AAA. I don't want that.
  20. Great article and thanks for the research. I was kinda hoping someone would do this. The dark cloud to your silver lining: it seems like Buxton is still the worst player on this list by a long shot, alas. While these stats do help, I'm more heartened by seeing Bux take 2 walks (and score the eventual winning run) last night. I tuned in last night and saw his batting average was over .100 and I was pretty happy to see that. Small victories, eh?
  21. Buxton with a 3-1 count....Dozier on deck...c'mon boys!
