  1. Who is this? I feel I follow The Twins, but this is a name I've never seen
  2. I have never read more and learned less. Was this a joke? Bigger fool me.
  3. Uggh. The question I don't want to answer. Great article
  4. Some unwritten rules are rules. No. You do not bunt in the 9th inning of a no-hitter if your team is trailing by more than a run. No. You do not let yourself get hit by a pitch in the 9th with a perfect game on the line. Arbitrary? Maybe. Good Sportsmanship? Yes. I'm sure Charlie Hustle would beg to differ. Over/Under of Twins SP throwing 7 innings this year? I'm going under no matter the spread. Go Twins
  5. I had no feelings for Romo before he came here, and I love him. I had feelings about AJ and loved him as a Twin, but not so much before or after. Funny how fandom can cloud your lens. Appreciate what you do for site Tom.
  6. We should be aiming for more than a split vs. a bad team. That's all I'm saying. If we split tomorrow, we will 2-5 against the worst team in the AL. Not a good sign. And it's not like were losing 10-8 freaky weird games. Not trying to argue. Just making a point
  7. Any stats on how often 2 teams have played to the same score in 3 consecutive games? Seems fairly unusual. Sure it's happened hundreds of times, I can't believe author is hoping for a split vs Royals at home. No offense, but if were hoping to split vs a crap team we have no reason to go to the post season.
  8. Not going to be knee-jerky, but my confidence in Berrios being a 2 starter is out the door. I'm not doing the dive, but how often does it feel the offense picks him up and he gives it right back. Frustrating series, but S happens even in a 60 game schedule. On to Milwaukee
  9. Pitching and defense adjust....Batter adjusts. He'll be fine
  10. This is going to sound greedy and arrogant, but we need to win this game. No excuse to be held to 1 run yesterday but a no name Pirate and no need not to pile on early and often today
  11. I thought the same way before this season got started, but ratings are ratings. The expensive commercial breaks are for prime time, and I don't think the Pandemic has changed media buyers minds. Especialy since who knows how many are ingesting games via web. Having a Noon, 3, and prime game everyday would work perfectly for the fan, but not so much for the East Coast/Central teams who inevitably would be playing the early game (thus losing revenue). The Dodgers would love it.
  12. I found this amusing in a Power Ranking article The best part of the team in the early season, though, might be the bullpen. The late-inning boy band of Taylor, Tyler, Tyler and Trevor* have combined for 17 strong innings so far, with Romo and Cody Stashak also contributing. It’s a potent combination of not allowing runs, and hitting baseballs where fielders aren’t allowed to catch them. * Rogers, Clippard, Duffey and May, who record under the name “High Leverage.”
  13. Hold on here. No mention of Sergio Romo's walk-up? This is a straight up banger and love how the crowd gets into it
  14. I love this kid, but am wondering if some of his head shaking 'no' when he takes a ball is going to grate on some veteran umps and reduce HIS strike zone. I hope not, but we know how some umpires can be
  15. To Pro-Rate Sano's stats from last season, he would probably have hit 40 HR's over a full season (Woulda Coulda Shoulda I know) But what team has put a 40 HR hitter from previous season in 8 hole the next year? And yes, it's part lefty/righty, but still Go Twins
  16. So The Twins will be playing at Target Field in mid-November??? Hope for an Indian Summer (Can we still call it that?)
  17. Didn't see this posted elswhere. From The Athletic
  18. I edited this because I didn't look at who was OP. Thuuuuuney, you do a great job on your game re-enactments. I had to ask you wether that was you doing playxplay and commentary (and responding to live thread which I realized had to be you. I just wasnt sure how sophisticated video games are. Great work and I watch most of them the next day. Congrats on your marriage I'm going to be contrarian on this. Obviously, I'm a baseball fan and a Twins fan (or why would I be here?) I love the constant beat of the mlb season. I love having the option to watch a game 6 days a week (pick and choose how dedicated you are. I'll admit I've not watched a Twins game @ Mariners from start to finish in years. [Pick your battles]]. My problem with baseball, aside from the current labor dispute is this: 1. Strike Zone. We have technology that can call balls and strikes in real time. Why not use it? I'm tired of hearing "That's John Q. Umpires strikezone. He's calling the low-away tight" The strike zone is the strike zone and that would eliminate having to groom catchers to be great at pitch framing. 2. Pace of game. Weren't we supposed to have a time clock between pitches last year after they had tested it in AAA? I hate to sound like an old man, but does the batter need to readjust his batting gloves after a pitch he didn't swing at? Pitcher: mount the rubber and go (that is not meant to be an innuendo) 3. Three True Outcomes. My problem with this, is that it's as unsatisfying as it sounds. When the talk turns to Baseball fans getting older and the youth don't follow the game (but will watch Soccer [shaking head]}. There's a reason. Home Runs are exciting when they are meaningful (Yes, all home runs mean something, but I don't feel satiated when my team scores 4 runs on 3 Home Runs} I miss hit and runs, steals, bunts, delayed steals etc. Show me all the advanced metrics and that's fine, but the game has evolved into a chess match of sorts. Less randomness, Fewer 'Holy ###" moments. The game plays like a grind, and I don't like how I feel after spending 3hrs. 10 minutes watching a game vs. Devil Rays. Sorry for taking up bandwith (Is that a thing?) Not trying to stir a pot, but I've had a few months to think about Baseball not being in my life and can't believe that I'm....ambivalent. I'm a Twins fan because my Grandfather played D ball (Low minors) for the Senators after WW2. I've never lived in Minnesota, but I go up every year (Since 1998) to watch a series. I go to whatever White Sox Park is called now a couple times to see the boys (much closer and cheaper). I love baseball, but I don't fancy so much what it's become and I despise both sides of this 'Labor Dispute' Good luck next year with that deal. Props to anyone who read this far.
  19. One of my faves...Alex Meyer.....
  20. Anything under 100 games is a sham. Anything under 100 games is a shame. This season is a wash and I blame it on the owners, the players, and the agents. As much as I hate to say it...Prep for 2021
  21. From The Athletic regarding projected draft picks 27. Minnesota Twins: Clayton Beeter, RHP, Texas Tech Beeter might have worked his way into the first half of the round had the season continued, but as it is, some teams’ models have his hammer curveball as the best pitch in the draft, which puts him in the mix for an analytics-focused team like the Twins. Amazing National Media recognizes Twins as a tech savvy team. Apparently we've come a long way quick
  22. Correct me if I'm wrong in how I think about this. Up to his first concussion he was having a near MVP year. Whatever the bilateral leg weakness thing was must have been something (We joked about it at the time). He's won 3 batting championships which is 3 more than all of AL catchers in modern era Defensively.Piazza had as many Passed Balls in 2001 than Mauer had in 10 yerars of catching (Not trying to cherry pick stats, but that's impressive). He should have had a Gold Glove at 1B (I know, that's the Homer-ism shining through) Yes, the teams post season record was terrible, but at least they were in post-season. I don't think he'll be first ballot, but for sure in years 3 or 4.
