  1. If I was associated with the Minnesota Twins right now, I'd be afraid to walk down a flight of stairs.
  2. i think the visiting dugout in Oakland is lined with green kryptonite.

  4. I thought Thorpe pitched better than his stat line indicates. Now if he can tick up the fastball speed to separate his pitches he will probably be even more successful.
  5. If you want to see an example of how hard it is to hit in the majors these days, check out Mets-Rockies (4-17) 1st game of a double header. DeGrom was throwing consistent 100 mph high heat and struck out 9 straight, 14 total in the 7 inning game. Pretty sick when a guy throws a 90 mph change-up. Diaz pitched the 7th and struck out the side. Thats 17 of 21 outs via the K.
  6. Also, Simmons has been away from the team since Tuesday and most probably NOT the source of any new infections. Lets pray that whomever is infected recovers quickly and others don't get infected.
  7. I haven't really been in favor of MLB's tinkering with the game since the creation of the DH, but I have to admit moving the mound back a foot is a very interesting experiment to see how it affects the pitcher-batter interaction. I'm all in favor of bringing back the action on the field (reduce K's, W's and HR's) with more balls-in-play. It just might be that the current game played by great athletes with incredible training and tools require modifying the dimensions some. It's been done before.
  8. And, Carlos Rodon was available as a free agent after the White Sox non-tendered him. Congratulations to him after a series of arm woes.
  9. The ballpark is tough place for the Twins these days.
  10. From article: "The Minnesota Twins announced this morning that shortstop Andrelton Simmons has been played on the COVID-IL." The dude's been played.
  11. Not having to warm up relievers saves their arms. The 3 out minimum rule is a factor as mentioned by arby58. Starting an inning with a pitcher who has already met the minimum batter rule means he can be pulled after the 1st or 2nd batter if the manager chooses for either performance reasons or for a critical matchup.
  12. And as Kep strikes out, Garlick is probably thinking, "I could have done that."
  13. Kepler's K in the 10th . . . arggghhh.
  14. Nelson Cruz: Great pitch recognition plus the ability to put the bat on the ball with authority makes Nellie one of the most feared hitters in baseball . . . still.
  15. Boy, those of us who were wondering if the Twins were gonna hit this year after the offensively lean spring training sure look like geniuses now, eh?
  16. Simmons the walk machine.
  17. Maybe but, the catcher gets a putout when the batter strikes out and he hangs unto the ball, otherwise he has to throw the runner out at 1B. It can seem kind of dumb, but then it's kinda of a cool thing where a batter can get on base because the defense screws up.
