  1. Deolis Guerra has thrown a whopping 160 innings in his MLB career for 5 teams and is 32 years old. He isn't the love that was lost by the Twins. And as your own article said about Henriks he was bounced around after being DFA'd by the Twins. He also somewhere along the way found like 5 mph on his fastball, which ya know, might by an underlying reason he's better now. Perez was blasted so hard the first half of the season the Sawx took him out of the rotation. It has been highly publicized about Pressly refusing to try the adjustments from the Twins that he implemented with the Astros. It isn't as if the these pitchers just left and the Twins would be world beaters if they stayed.
  2. To be fair, when a manager has access to a fountain of knowledge and greatness like Dick Such, it was certainly helpful to Kelly. ?
  3. I'm more in Levi's line of thinking. I wasn't necessarily saying protect Cook, but that an injured Cook isn't as useful.
  4. Oh my head hurts now. I blame Baldelli 100%, since it is professional sports team sucking. Managers always fall on the sword.
  5. Throwing Cook out there, run after run when you could see he wasn't cutting well was another annoyance. I get Zimmer and the offense is 1980 inspired, but what is the point of 30 mill guaranteed for Cousins, Jefferson and Thielen when the RB is hurt?
  6. My first reaction, since I hate Jack Morris was blah. But their ERA+ during the good years for Morris is close to Berrios. And the good pitcher who gives up more runs than they should is an apt description. I think Brock has me convinced that signing Berrios is a good thing for the Twins, he just can't be the best pitcher on a really good team.
  7. The conservative play calling the second half, capped off by sitting on the FG is annoying as hell.
  8. I truly believe my view and many of the views here have been skewed because of how close we are to the Twins. Berrios was a hell of a pitcher, but because I watched him so often I remember how often he'd start an inning with a walk and by the end of the inning he'd given up 3 runs. Probably the only 3 runs of the game but that memory of the walk would stick with me. I hope he gets his money, but I don't know if I'd want the Twins being the team to give him big money.
  9. I just saw an ad for a Chucky TV show and I'm not going to be ashamed about being excited for it.
  10. Yes, yes. Please MLB put in the pitch clock. Would make hitters not twitch around the batters box in addition to making pitchers not take so long too.
  11. That lack of depth I believe played into why Shoemaker and Happ were signed. Trying to add decent depth with the hope Duran, Balazovic, etc. would be ready. It failed obviously. Trying to look at this objectively, are the Twins close enough that either a 100M pitcher or position player would be a difference maker? I don't know.
  12. Ahh, Vikings going to Vikings. Everson Griffen will be out for Week 2 against the Cardinals, with Zimmer telling reporters Griffen is in concussion protocol after swerving and crashing his car while trying to avoid a deer on the way to the practice facility.
  13. I’d rather that than Baez and his 300’ish lifetime OBP. Or Torres who is another Polanco, a 2B who isn’t a good SS.
  14. For 2017 Jon Sickels had Gonsalves at #2, Romero #3, Jay #4, Adalberto Mejia #7, Chargois #10. That is not a lot of high end pitching. This year sucks because Duran is hurt, Balazovic didn’t pitch last year and started with a back injury. But those two are more high end than anyone from 2017.
  15. Yeah, 40 year old pitchers are definitely adversely effected by management. ?
  16. Can't blow a lead without first having the lead.
  17. 19 year olds coming off surgery are exactly what you trade. Cave was a useful player for 2 years. Keeping Cave while dumping Wade is what sucks.
  18. Where is my love, Ian Gibaut, when he is needed?
  19. It wasn’t Breeland vs Dantzler, it was Boyd vs Dantzler. And Boyd has apparently played and practiced better than Dantzler. And the more I watch Cousins the more I want him gone.
  20. I am just happy Rob Antony isn’t making decisions anymore.
  21. Tony Bautista will forever hold a spot in my heart. Click bait article or not.
  22. The current regime gets hit by fans because it is seen as stat nerds running their computer game, while Terry Ryan was seen as a die hard baseball guy. Nothing is going to change that, I.e. Viola and old cranks complaining about everything. Like Brock said the ‘16 team was bad. Happ and Shoemaker both had ERA+ around 100 recently. Their completed collapse, every one in the bullpen sucking are not complete surprises, but collectively is some bad luck. That and the timing of their bullpen sucking didn’t help either.
  23. What do you mean? Rashod Hill and his ilk are always around.
  24. Maybe he can learn to pitch left handed in the down time?
  25. Ray, Duffy, Syndergaard, Brantley and/or Contreras would rival the Dodgers offseason in terms of $$$ spent.
