  1. The Twins did a great job of running up his pitch count after the 4th no doubt, IMO the Red Sox had a better chance of winning that game with Sale pitching the 8th then anybody else. He had given up 3 hits, one a fluke, one was a amazing hit (Escobar) and one solid hit to LaMarre. An 8 year vet, with 1426 innings, 1692 K's, should be able to start the 8th inning with 105 pitches in a 2 - 2 game. IMO also IMO high pressure pitching is "suppose" to be more important than innings or pitch count. And sending a guy out to start a inning with requirement that he is perfect is very high pressure.
  2. I love me some Escobar, but I think Trout might be having one of the best seasons ever. ESPN has Trout's WAR at 6.6 and Escobar's at 2.2. Plus Trout's OPS is .217 higher at this time.
  3. Told my son last night when Berrios came out in the 7th, that he would be pulled as soon as somebody got on base, and you could see on Berrios face he knew he was out when he hit the guy. IMO, how do these pitchers ever learn to pitch deeper into games if they aren't ever given a chance unless they are perfect? I will also say the Red Sox did the Twins a favor taking Sale out after 7, with LaMarre, Mauer and Rosario (he looked lost against him last night) up.
  4. it was a 5 - 3 games, and he wasn't given a chance to come out in the 5th after only 63 pitches, IMO you have to give them guys a chance. Unless of course they are trying to extend his season by limiting his pitches and/or innings. The look on Odorizz face when he gave up a hit in the 5th, looked like he was expecting to be taken out. Trying to perfect could take a toll on the pitchers.
  5. Sadly Morrison looks like the Kendrys experiment. As for calling up people, nobody in AAA does anything for me. (except maybe a catcher) Carter - .198, and 23 K's in 74 at bats, no thanks. Wade is the guy I want to see up.
  6. Thanks I was wondering the same thing, but why have him up if you aren't going to let him pitch though things like this?
  7. I am not sure it is a depth issue. Molitor needs to realize that the starters as a team are averaging less than 5 2/3, and he needs a plan every night for the bullpen to pitch 3 to 5 innings. IMO he doesn't go into the game with that plan and reacts to the game situation and puts Pressley and Reed in almost every game. Then Duke and Hildy fill the gaps. Why have not have a plan for Magil to pitch the 5th and/or 6th in games Odorizzi and Romero start or something other than the starter gets in trouble in the 5th bring in Pressly to finish that inning start the 6th, matchup up Duke and Hildy for the 7th, Reed 8th every game and hope Rodney saves the game.
  8. It is funny people mention Gibson, the one player everybody has wanted to get rid of the last few years because he wasn't living up to expectations, and Dozier who others having been trying to get traded for more prospects. Or Romero who has all of 8 major league starts.
  9. Fine, make it 10 for 500, you do it now because you have him the rest of the year and he doesn't hit the market where I am pretty sure the twins are going to get outbid, but lets be honest the Twins will not make an offer now or then. Any finally you do it because if you really want something you do what you need to do to get it. Or you can always claim that you really want to win, but only after the next set up prospects get the Twins there. I agree with Mike above I am willing to trade prospects but not for rentals, the sad part is IMO that will really only have 3 top end prospects (Lewis, Kirilloff, Graterol) to get somebody like Verlander last year.
  10. Not sure if this is allowed, but offer, Lewis, Gordon, Gonzo and maybe Wade, and a 8 year 270 or something similar contract. Tell Balt this trade only works if Manny accepts contract.
  11. Having him on a pitch or inning limit is NOT the same as watching for Fatigue (mental or physical) I don't think anybody on here thinks it is a good idea for him to pitch though fatigue.
  12. The Veducci effect is a religion, not science. People belief it on faith because they have heard it so many times and journalists write about it as fact. (How many above wrote about it?)
  13. Every guy I mentioned would return something, sure that something is probably a mid tier prospect that as Twins fans we will over hype and claim to be the future and be unwilling to trade because we are still two years away from really contending. In a few years if will be questionable that they deserve a 40 man roster spot and again as Twins fans will be waiting for our next mid tier prospects to bring us to the promise land.
  14. If the Twins are selling, they should go all in. Rodney, Reed, Magil, Presley, Lynn, Ororizzi, Dozier, Escobar. Why half arse it. They have replacements for all of them.
  15. I assume you mean another minor league pitcher that the big league club refuses to bring up? Why bother having relief pitchers on the 40 man (Busenitz, Curtiss, Moya) when THEY don't think there are as good as a pitcher that got demoted and cut from the team we are chasing?
  16. ESPN has an article out possible trades for starting pitchers. deGrom, Syndergaard, Bumgarner and Corbin are really the only ones that interest me and if they are truly available the Twins need to go real hard after one of them.
  17. Hit Wilson in the chest and he had to wait a second for the runner to get there.
  18. agreed, but in theory wouldn't they be getting one player back that is considered as good or better? (also assuming if they traded those two or any high two, it wouldn't be for a rental)
  19. The Marlins would trade Sano straight up for JT, then turn around a trade him for more than they could get for JT. As much as the Twins fans are down on Sano, he is 24, has a career .831 OPS and while is OBP is low this year he has a career .342. Imagine if you posted Sano's numbers without his name and said they Twins have a chance to trade for him, what we would offer. I am guessing more than we are willing to offer for JT. IMO
  20. Even if those two are Lewis and Gordon, it might hurt but wouldn't be stripping the farm. What would be interesting would be an article on who will be on the 40 next year and which minor leaguers will have to be added or left available in the Rule 5.
  21. I would go to the Marlins and say: Gordon or Javier and Gonzo or Enlow or Thorpe and Ben Rortvedt or Garver and if need be maybe throw in Jorge or Stewart to sweeten the deal.
  22. I was at St. Johns game and their pitcher Jake Dickmeyer looked pretty good any chance this year or possibly next? ( I think he went to woodbury?)
  23. So calling up Gordon and trading fan favorite Dozier generates excitement? I am not against calling up Gordon, but if you trade Dozier why stop there? Gibson. Ordozzi, Pressley, Esobar and Reed all should go as well.
