  1. Is there really any AAA prospects (position players) out there now?
  2. First there is no way I trade him. Do we really need more minor league prospects? So the trade would have to be for a established major league player that isn't too old. Don't see that happening. He is 24 years old with a career WAR of 6.9, I am not trading that.
  3. Just guessing here, but could it be, they are worried he takes off in AAA and they have to remove somebody off the 40 and if he gets hurt they are short outfielder?
  4. First I never ripped on the current FO, Mason was a top prospect (top 20) before they got here. Obviously a relief pitcher will never be the center of a trade, I was pointing out that he is just another relief prospect that has failed to live up to expectations and wasn't added in a trade with other prospects to improve the major league club, and is no longer with the team. IMO at any given time there are only 1 or 2 prospects that should be considered untouchable to make the major league club better, because most are going to flame out and the major league club won't see any benefits of it.
  5. For strongly disagreeing, it seems to did a good job of proving my points.
  6. Just another example of hoarding prospects way too long, 90% of minor league relief pitchers won't turn into decent major league pitchers. So if you have minor league relief pitchers that other teams value, trade them, and do it right away. How many minor league relief pitchers do you need on your 40 man? the correct answer is VERY FEW!
  7. Sad the Kid will be 20 before he plays his 51st minor league game.
  8. Romero has a combined 32.2 innings this year. He could start another 25 games this year? and if he averages 5.4 innings per start(I think that is the league average) he will end up with 135 + 32.2 = 167.2. IMO I don't think we really need to worry too much about his innings.
  9. I didn't say he was ready. I said "If Graterol continues to pitch this well the rest of the year and moves up a few levels, I don't understand why he couldn't be ready sometime next year." Obviously if he doesn't continue to pitch lights out in all levels he pitches this year and next, he wouldn't be ready. I just don't understand the philosophy that a pitcher has pitch in the minors for 6 or 7 years prior to being called up. If a kid can throw upper 90's with another plus pitch for strikes he could/should be able to help the major league club.
  10. IMO if a pitcher has two pitches that can get guys out in the minors no problem, it seems like a waste to have him spent extra years working on the 3rd and 4th pitch in the minors. But I will say if the team notices a guy is a bit fragile, it might be a good idea to have them in the minors working on pitches.
  11. I am not saying it is or isn't, but comparing him to Berrios doesn't mean anything, you could compare him to others that have about the same innings that have done really well. So far it looks great but maybe a week earlier stops a 8 game losing straight. It doesn't matte since this is what happened, I just it interesting that sometimes waiting too long can hurt a team.
  12. Hey looked great. The question I have is did the Twins wait too long to promote, or was it perfect timing? IMO if he can come in and do this in the majors, they waited too long, but we won't really know until he gets a few more starts under his belt.
  13. Julio Urias, Clayton Kershaw, Mike Soroka, Dylan Bundy, Rick Porcello come to mind. I am sure there are more. So 2021 will be 7th year with the organization and he will be 22. I just don't understand wasting guys with arms like his in the minors.
  14. So a guy that throws in the upper 90s and hasn't had an issue with control needs to spend 6-7 years in the minors. He has already had Tommy John and this will be his first full year back if he can get to AA this year there should be no reason he can't pitch in the majors at 20. The reports are he has a plus slider, with that and his fastball he should be able to work on his curve and change in the majors and successful. (I reserve the right to change my mind if he struggles this year getting guys out in the low minors) The average starter in the majors only pitches a little bit over 5 innings anyway,
  15. If Graterol continues to pitch this well the rest of the year and moves up a few levels, I don't understand why he couldn't be ready sometime next year.
  16. IMO, the role Grossman is suppose to be playing is 4th outfielder, part-time DH and pinch hitter. If he can't fill that role (which it seems he can't) he needs to go and get somebody here that can. (I think giving Wade a chance is a great idea). The 5th outfielder role is supposed to be a guy you put in to run, pinch hitter, and play very seldom.
  17. Why are we worried about LaMarre? he seems like the perfect 5th outfielder. He isn't a prospect so there is no pressure to get him in games, and when he does fill in, he has done fine. As for Grossman, well should have gone out and got a capable outfielder in the off season, let many on this site said. The front offense didn't put together a very balanced team and it is showing in the inability to work pitchers and play defense.
  18. Well there has been talk of him not letting his starters work out of some jams and getting an inning or two more out of them so can we complain when it back fires? I will say the last few starts he has given his starters a chance to work out of some jams and it has worked, (Gibson and Romero for example)
  19. Maybe the Twins can continue to go 1-4 with gys in scoring position.
  20. 56 pitchers after 3, with 1 hit and 2 walks, looks like 5 innings will be his max
  21. So based on that, the bullpen better be ready around the 3 or 4th inning. Hopefully he comes into the club house singing, "here I am to save the day" and follows though with 6 or 7 good innings.
  22. I was surprised he let Gibson finish the 5th, so I knew there was no chance of him coming out for the 6th. I would have him come out for the 6th, but Molitor knew if anybody gets on base he will pull him so let a Relief Pitcher start the inning. Basically they don't let a starter, star a new inning if they have over 90 pitchers, and they wonder why the bullpen is terrible.
  23. Back in the day if you seen a hot girl and you wanted to point her out to your friends, we would just say Ron Davis. And you would jerk your head around just like Davis did after serving up another homer.
  24. Isn't that what everybody was saying during the off season? As bad as the Twins have been, I think it is a bit earlier to go into tank/trade mode. IMO while you can always use top prospects in the low minors, that isn't really a weak spot of the Twins right now, it is prospects that are ready to contribute. If the Twins start trading for low minor prospects they might as well look into trading Sano, Buxton, Kepler and Rosario because by the time the new guys are ready to contribute these four will be free agents.
