  1. For sure. But there seems to be way more of those kinds of franchises now than there used to be. Too many over-confident billionaires that think they know more than they do about football just because they know more than most people about business.
  2. QB options are limited next year, I'm guessing they'd still get a ton from a dumb and desperate team and still too much from even a smart team. I mean, for as average as he is, that's probably Sheduer Sanders' ceiling.
  3. I suppose if the Lions win tonight, that also leaves them with the option of a tie with the Vikings to claim the #1 seed next week. Probably still not worth the risk, but this game isn't 100% meaningless for Dan Campbell like the national narrative seems to be saying. More like 95% meaningless.
  4. Well I knew 2017 was the last year the Vikings swept them, looking at their schedule, the Lions did as well.
  5. It's only one year. I wouldn't mess with it off of this small of a sample size. In the regular season, teams ranked 12th and higher beat teams ranked in the top five all the time. If anything, the NCAA is probably drooling over the consternation of teams like Alabama not getting in because in the end it's just going to fuel the request for MORE teams to get into the playoffs. Even if some of the games aren't exciting, they are still drawing more fans, and can be sold to networks for significantly more money than the non-playoff bowl games.
  6. His velocity seems to be holding but his dropping K% should be a big concern. It's down 7% from 2022 and 13% since 2020. He's still getting the job done, but how long will that last if he continues to put the ball in play more and more often? Even though you have to give up player equity to do so, I still like what the Twins were doing, trading for starters still under team control and still most likely in their peak years.
  7. If the seedings hold, I'm going to predict the Rams with the #3 seed take out the Eagles. Of course that also means the Vikings get Detroit for the 3rd time in the second round assuming they beat TB/ATL.
  8. Yeah, Mayfield is a wild card. Either he'll carve up the Vikings secondary, or he'll throw three picks in a blowout loss to them.
  9. Usually 'catchers' that play multiple other positions, aren't good catchers. If this team didn't trust Jair Camargo, who has caught more than 3x as many minor league games as Gaspar despite being 6 years younger, I really doubt the Twins see Gaspar as a legit catching option.
  10. In that scenario, the Vikings would only play them if the beat the Eagles. If they are the sixth seed, GB would only have to go through the NFC West/South winner.
  11. He does hang on to the ball too long and I'm surprised he gets away with it because it's usually while still in the pocket. On the other hand, I really am down on the interior OL. If that ends up being next year's priority, wow, look out.
  12. Honestly, I used to like him way less. He seemed more over-the-top and subjective early in his career. He seems a bit more toned down in recent years and I barely notice him anymore. Which isn't an endorsement. It basically just makes him the announcer version of the Dolphins?
  13. I count 33. Obviously not a ton. I guess Steve young didn't look very good early either.
  14. Looking at a list of left handed QBs in NFL history. Tua Tagovailoa is probably about the 6th best all time, which probably says a lot. I wouldn't have high hopes for Michael Penix.
  15. I don't disagree. But much bigger red flags than most 'safe' QBs. And unique red flags due to the situation.
  16. Right, he's only been coached by his dad. Like ever, going back to high school. And aside from production, which franchise is going to look forward to Deion and his huge platform and subversive threats to coach in the NFL, publicly blaming the coach, GM, owner and other players on the team every time his son's team struggles? Jerry Jones seems like he'd be the only owner who'd love the publicity at the expense of team dynamic.
  17. That tension sucked. I will say though, that last drive to run out the clock is encouraging. High percentage 4-6 yard passes is how you play that situation, but this is the first time the Vikings committed to that. If they learned from that, they might fix this close-game syndrome.
  18. He was in on the drive with Addison’s TD. But they’ve been using Akers way more lately. Guess they like him better than I do.
  19. So Vikings…..
  20. Foot on the throat. Right now.
  21. Maybe. I think Sanders and Ward might be trap QB prospects.
  22. Philly up 27-7 in a game that probably doesn't matter and they still have Barkley in the game late in the 3rd. They're just asking for him to get hurt.
  23. They need MIN and DET to both lose out to get the 1 seed, so this game is pretty much meaningless to them. Which means when they needlessly get Barkley injured in this game, there will be calls to fire the coach again.
  24. 1) Seems to me they'll have better attendance if they do two things. Not stink early in the season; I don't think this team has gotten off to a hot start since 2019. And more importantly, make sure the games are available to watch on every TV in your market. Getting those factors wrong will make the fans forget your team in a hurry. 2-4) seem like the same question. I don't know if they will happen, but I think relying on enough of (not all) your young players on the roster to improve is better odds than adding sub-par free agents looking to bounce back on a 10M contract. 5) The old adage is you never have enough pitching. Still, any team that has to go 8 starters deep for significant innings likely isn't going to do much regardless of their payroll. For all the offensive injury woes, the Twins starters have been overall pretty healthy compared to the rest of the league the last few years. 6) Probably not, but with today's rules, over-managing based on handed-ness is just as likely to bite you in the butt than it is to save the day.
  25. Yeah, that sucked. McBride had a monster night too.
