  1. I sure wish the Twins would start teaching their pitchers how to increase velocity and movement on their fastballs.
  2. Ryan may or may not care about Sabr-stats. Anderson may or may not care about WAR. But as implied by other posters, even if they don't want to use the stats, they should be expected to be aware of them and know their significance and functions. There are people on this site from all walks of life working jobs totally unrelated to baseball who know this stuff. These guys have full-time jobs in the industry, they should actively seek out new learning opportunities to better understand their field. I am quite aware of the many functions of my business even outside of the department that I am paid to perform in. Why can't we expect these guys to have the same grasp of other areas of their industry as Mike at Walmart who follows baseball as an unpaid hobby?
  3. Maybe Antoan Richardson will get a shot? He's been hitting in AA. Boggs has been awful at Rochester but Clete Thomas has been hitting. The team might still have a bitter taste in their mouth after last year's experience with him though.
  4. What are the chances the Twins most competent CF offensively and defensively is currently in the low A ball? Edit: To be clear, this is not an endorsement to promote Byron Buxton.
  5. The myth of the groundball pitcher has been exposed. Though I'm sure the Twins front office doesn't read much Bill James, he's lately been making the case that flyball pitchers are historically better and much less injury prone.
  6. Um what? Is he really saying that although Frazier has a better bat, he likes Meadows better? Why because Meadows has a slight chance of sticking at CF? I'd take the guy who profiles as a better hitter everyday.
  7. For an early rebuild into contention this team still needs another close to MLB ready top of the rotation arm. Considering free agency will never be an option for this, the only alternatives would be to get lucky with a college arm early in the draft or get good value in a trade. It will be hard to justify trading a guy like Willingham however if this team remains marginally competitive though.
  8. Well they likely aren't going to pass the guys who are in front of them, considering they are all MLB or near MLB ready. But for that reason alone, they will possibly be top 5 prospects. The top 7 guys are already at the MLB level, or possibly will be by June except for Bundy, who as mentioned may have a serious arm issue. As BA's list stands now, that only leaves Bogaerts between Sano/Buxton and the top spot. If all goes as planned for the guys above them, it would be tough to keep them out of the top 5.
  9. I'm only seeing this on a gamecast but is Correia coming out after seven innings with a pitch count of 87 a reactionary move to the heat Gardy took last time he went out for the 8th? Because last time, I think it was nearly unanimous that most agreed Correia should have gone out for the 8th, he simply should have been pulled with runners on.
  10. You may be right about the Twins preference, but that opens up a whole different can of worms. I don't like relievers with a low K% in late inning situations. Really does anybody?
  11. I won't click them either. Who's idea is it to put everything in a slideshow format? Thank you, no. Every item on a list does not need it's own page.
  12. There is another thread about how Burton won't be pitching three consecutive days. While that would not likely be common in any scenario, aside from Burton, Fein really is the only late inning option before Perkins. I don't think dropping Fein is a wise move for a team still on the happy side of .500.
  13. Well I hate to stoop to playground antics, but... you started it: Are you implying that Terry Ryan would have signed better free agents but he secretely knew Correia was actually the best pitcher on the market?
  14. Ha, I did a Google image search for Jose Berrios and this one came up: http://www.thenaturalmusclenetwork.com/ocb/Contests/2011/BaltimoreMD/Jose-Berrios.jpg Do we have firm confirmation that this isn't our phenom pitcher? I think whoever has the Berrios Adopt-a-Prospect page for him needs to update it with this regardless.
  15. Something about him reminds me of Michael Strahan....
  16. I hope he keeps it up, but if he doesn't, do we get to throw this back in your face as you have done to us? On behalf of everyone who dares question this organization's pitching decisions let me appologize. They have clearly atoned for the past eight years of incompetence with the Correia signing.
  17. This along with the frustration over his slow pace makes me think he does not have a long leash.
  18. Well it's hard to say if the Twins are already babying Pressly. He hasn't pitched much and if that's going to be the case they should perhaps check back in with Boston to see if a trade is possible to allow them to send him to Rochester. If that's off the table, cut bait with Wood. His career 4.3 K/9 isn't exactly prime bullpen material.
  19. If another OF is considered, I'd hope the Twins take into account the favorability Target Field seems to hold over right-handed sluggers as opposed to lefties.
  20. I know New Britain doesn't have the most impressive group of OF, but I'd expect an outright release for Morales over a promotion to AA. I don't think there is anything more to see here.
  21. I think the article should put to rest our concerns abut Sano being too large to play 3B. "The 6-foot-3, 195-pound native of the Dominican Republic also leads the FSL with a .375 batting average and a .734 slugging percentage. He's second with 16 RBIs, one behind T.J. Rivera of the St. Lucie Mets." He's going to need to beef up a bit to be a middle of the order bat.
  22. Nice analysis, thanks for all the effort. I have to say though, the Twins can pay lip-service to the BPA myth all they want, but if they truely have Moran over Bryant, then it's all talk. Even if they feel Bryant will move to 1B, then they would just be weighing a 3B vs a 1B and clearly Bryant is the more talented player.
  23. I'm curious about his fastball. Does anyone know, is his mid-90's fastball of the 92-94 variaty or the 94-96 kind? I'm not sure why the two MPH seems to make a huge difference but from my perspective it makes a guy much more interesting.
  24. While the Twins could trade away some International allowence to leverage a better deal from a prospective mid season trade, they also could leverage a better deal the traditional way. Eat some salary of the vet being traded. This team needs to stop looking for new ways to not spend money.
  25. I'm not an Insider. Who does he have at #3 right now? I'm seeing Meadows, Frazier and Bryant in various orders lately.
