  1. I'm happy to hear this, though I'm still a bit puzzled by his ranking. KLaw's criticism was always that he wasn't tall enough and his pitches' plane was too flat, but he always acknowledged the positive MiLB results. What changed? I don't like KLaw much, and I didn't agree with the weight he put on Berrios' height, but I respected the fact that he didn't change his opinion when his biggest objection was a factor that could not be changed. Did Berrios gain an inch last time KLaw saw him pitche?
  2. DH and left field have so many candidates for next year. Even if hypothetically Hunter was an asset and the team takes a step back by losing him, they still should let him walk as there are a dozen younger guys who need a chance at regular play. That said, Ryan loves his vets, Hunter will be back if he's hitting and wants to stay.
  3. I think there's a reasonable chance that had someone gotten out of Worley what Pittsburgh did, the Twins may not have signed Nolasco at all.
  4. My mind isn't changed, I'm still looking at the future, and my hope is that it doesn't include any more aging pitchers.
  5. Yeah that last part was the biggest problem though. The team has a lot of Hicks/Parmelee type prospects. Having too many might not be the best thing as few will get consistancy looks. Parmelee couldn't get constant playing time even though the team was awful and had very few options for the future. How the hell are guys like Rosario, Arcia, Harrison and Kepler going to get 500 at bats in a season to evaluate their capabilities? You can't yo-yo these guys around for three years and expect something to click when they aren't getting everyday playing time at the MLB level to work on their flaws.
  6. I'm liking Steven Voight now, but Billy Beane is probably drooling over him. A 32-year old who few have heard of before who puts up those numbers looks an awful lot like a mirage. He will cost more more now than ever before or ever again. Not a fan of trading for guys at peak price.
  7. Plouffe is starting to grow on me. My dermatologist gave me some ointment for it though.
  8. Agreed. He can play all four corner spots and the team wouldn't be stuck with a rotting corpse in 2016.
  9. Where is this idea that Howard is still a good player coming from? Are some folks really only judging him on his last month? He's either been injured or unproductive each year since 2011, usually both. He's not an upgrade, he's old, expensive, can't hit lefties and takes away the DH spot that is and will be needed for all the OF and corner infielders this team will need to try cycle through. This team is winning and it's fun, but if they are going to actually win the big prize someday, they still have to give the young players plenty of looks to develop those assets. Ryan Howard will not win the Twins a WS.
  10. What's the problem here, he's got two arms doesn't he?
  11. Then you just need to combine the t-shirts and the advertising. Of course you're a woman in Chicago so that actually might not stop people from yelling at you to take off your shirt.
  12. That sounds like the same arguement that it's fine to not have strikeout pitchers, you just need five Mark Buerhles. Finding a .950 OPS hitter with little power is as rare as finding an ace who can't get strikeouts. Can it be done? Sure hypothetically, but why take the near impossible route?
  13. Then this team is out of a center fielder again.
  14. Adding Howard won't help the logjam, it will only add a guy who should solely be a DH to the problem. The Twins need another lefty who struggles to hit left handed pitching about as much as they need another soft-tosser in the bullpen. I agree, the Twins should trade some of the logjam, but not for a DH. Move those guys for a catcher, young back of the pen arms or for youngsters not yet required to occupy 40-man spots.
  15. Glad he's healthy, and thanks for the updates. I don't know that there's much room for debate any longer though, he's not going to be able to miss many bars and because of this he's not going to be the ace we've been hoping for. Decent velocity that for whatever reasons doesn't miss bats and a ground ball pitcher, he looks like Kyle Gibson, though Gibson struck out more batters in the minors.
  16. I'd rather have Vargas on this team than Howard and neither are really a fit with all the corner Infirlders and outfielders close to the MLB. I wouldn't want to give Hiward that DH spot.
  17. Tell me it wasn't his UCL. I'm not watching but I can't think of any other reason to pull a guy who's only at 80 pitches, mowing down batters and not walking anyone. Another TJ victim I guess, dang.
  18. The International signing loophole is going to be closed soon, perhaps not until after the CBA expires in 2016, but it will get fixed, and almost certainly soon. I'm going to be pretty upset if the Twins never take advantage of it.
  19. No one has to be to blame, but the Twins do seem to have a failure in drafting and/or developing pitchers, more so than most teams, maybe all teams. Especially if they are actually trying to get front line guys who miss bats. Something's amiss, being historically awfull at strikeouts compared to the other 29 teams can't all be bad luck.
  20. Worth a shot but both Plouffe and Dozier might protest getting moved.
  21. I don't think the scouting changed. Not saying they're to blame.
  22. If the Twins had passed up offers for top 50 prospects and held on to Span during three unwatchable seasons, the front office would have been crushed, as they should have. If the Twins really want Span for what ever reason, they can have him next year when he'll be a free agent and the team is worth watching. Hell, if the Nats keep losing they might be able to get him this July.
  23. I just looked at the Rochester team and see that the average age of Rochester offense is 27.6 years with only Ortiz and the recently demoted Vargas under 26-years-old. I think it's time to get rolling on this turnover.
  24. It would be if he actually did.
