  1. Seems to be the Twins are pretty accomplished early season rotation jugglers. Just not by choice. Nor to great effect.
  2. I'd certainly look to deal Rosario at some point, but his splits since May have been pretty decent. Better than Kepler actually. I wouldn't expect Granite to come up and be an improvement at this point at least.
  3. Kyle Wright is signing for over 7M, which is more than 1.3M higher than slot. McKay is reportedly going to be paid even more by TB. Yet it's the Twins HS pick Lewis who is going underslot; it will be interesting to see what Greene and Gore do. I wonder if something has shifted in that the HS kids know going to school for two or three years until their next draft opportunity is a much bigger risk than a college junior going back for only one more season to a place they already dominated. Just spitballing, something certainly changed this year.
  4. Granite is nice depth to have, but neither Rosario or Kepler are creating an offensive black hole and the OF defense has been good. I don't think this is a situation you push during the season unless there is an injury.
  5. If people are looking for a move to help the team now, I actually might be more inclined to trade Polanco or Polanco+, unless he's lost all value. Gordon's knocking on the door anyway. Polanco would be a long term asset, meaning a non-contender may be more interested in him. It's the non-contenders that tend to trade off established pitchers. Escobar is 28 and a free agent after one more season, he's the kind of guy you trade off to contenders for speculative pieces. And I'm fine with speculative pieces, but I know lots of folks around here are wanting moves to help with this year.
  6. Gordon is hitting better in AA than Machado or Lindor did and by a wide margin. He's hitting better than those two did at any level in fact. He might also be looking at a call up right now if the team wasn't getting competent SS play from three capable players in Escobar, Polanco and Adrianza. I'm not saying Gordon or Lewis will be in their tier of shortstop, but it's far from a foregone conclusion that they won't. Also, of those guys, only Correa was a #1 pick. The odds of any #1 pick actually turning into an All-Star let alone a Super Star are low and always are.
  7. I agree that "we all" doesn't include me. It has nothing to do with my expectations for Lewis though, and everything to do with the fact that Nick Gordon is tearing it up and might be the best position player in AA right now. If that's what Lewis is in a few years, that seems pretty awesome to me. Nick Gordon might really surprise us with how high he finds himself on mid-season prospect rankings. He's hitting better than J.P. Crawford and Gleyber Torres ever have and he should be about two minutes away from joining them at the AAA level. And personally, I had never thought too highly of Gordon, even when drafted. He's starting to look like a find now
  8. I hope so but it's not going to do any good if they don't get out to vote. The lunatic fringe doesn't appear to really be fringe anymore; if they are going to turn out en masse, the left has to do better than 55%. Also it would help if, you know, states stopped trying to make laws that make it difficult for the left to vote.
  9. Enlow, Lewis, Leach. You guys can have your fun little HS players.* I'm still super stoked that they got Rooker! Call me crazy, but I have never been more confident in a Twins pick being able to hit at the MLB level than I am Rooker. That right-handed swing looks tailor-made for Target Field. And the best part is, he sounds like such a student of the game, that if for some reason it isn't, he'll damn well correct it. *Sarcasm only, I like the high schoolers a ton also.
  10. Ober is the beginning of my last name. And Bailey is the name of our dog. I'm looking forward to telling my 7-year-old that tidbit tonight; he's surely going to find it more interesting than anyone else.
  11. Twins going back to the lotto route with Spicer in round 26 and Griffen Roberts in round 29. Both ranked in the top 200 and likely to go back to school. Round 27 saw them take Chandler Tayler who is a sophomore. I'd be fun if they got one of these guys to put pen to paper.
  12. I forget his name, but the Twins hired the pre-eminent Canadian scout/instructor about three years ago.
  13. There's your catcher. Anderew Cosgrove. NCST.
  14. Yeah, that one is unique. Cade Smith. I'd like to hear more about that.
  15. Glad you posted that, even though everyone reading the draft thread now needs a time out for tissues. Good stuff and I hope this guy makes it!
  16. You don't need a catcher if you're really good at getting 1st pitch ground balls.
  17. Toronto took a guy from Mankato St.
  18. Brewers starting the day with three straight HS picks.
  19. Reds must have had some cash left, or at least high hopes. They picked a HS pitcher ranked in the top 200 in round 12.
  20. Bailey Ober a LHP from CofC in 12.
  21. Wow, that's really interesting about McKay. Was he truly ready to go back to Louisville? I don't see his leverage, particularly after nearly everybody and their mom starting getting worried last month and dropped him from the top of their rankings because of velocity concerns.
  22. Don't judge your relationship based on how other couples' relationships appear. No one truly knows what's going on with other couples and it can cause resentment between you and your spouse if you start thinking, 'Geez, Jim's wife does this, and Jim's wife let's him do that'. Also, if you haven't already, make sure to fart in front of her to make sure you know the reaction to expect going forward.
  23. I might be the biggest Presley bobo around. But still, no Hildenberger? Busenitz? Curtiss? I mean it sure seemed like there was a pretty viable person to remove from the 40-man.
  24. Yes they do from time to time. Since the Twins pick first and should have some free money to spend, if any of those guys will sign, the Twins should be in the driver's seat to do so.
