  1. I'm all for shipping Rudolph or Griffen to move up, but trading up doesn't tend to be NE's MO, they typically go the other way.
  2. Magill averaged 17.9 pitches per inning last year, so 30-40 pitches maybe doesn't get him through 2 innings either. For what it's worth, Romero averaged 17.4 pitches per inning last year and Stewart averaged 17.3.
  3. I'm happy to have MaGill back as an option, but I'm confused as to why he'd be seen as the hands-down superior option. We have a 29-year-old journeyman who has been injured and coming off of an OK, not great season based on baseball card stats but which his peripherals in no way support vs. two former top prospects in their primes who have significantly more arm talent. I mean, maybe the edge goes to Magill, but barely.
  4. I don’t want to lose Wayne’s, but I want to lose someone of cap significance because more likely than not, some teams will be parting with useful OL after the draft and I’d like to have the flexibility to get one or two if they’re a fit.
  5. Yeah, I've been down on Castro still getting about 1/3rd of the playing time and even he made me shut my mouth last night!
  6. Not sure why, but after OL I'm really craving a stud DT, I'd be all over Oliver if he slid. Wilkins looks like he could be great getting pressure up the middle too.
  7. I can't wait to get Magill back in the MLB bullpen. I never expected I'd type that sentence.
  8. Nope, bad win/loss record maybe, but no more of this stuff. I hope he ends up with a few good stories about his time in the MLB to tell his grandkids.
  9. Yeah, if quick but undersized is the key for this scheme, taking those types of players may be reaching by as much as a couple of rounds. 1st round lineman are rarely undersized any longer. OK yeah, after talking this out I'll predict that for better or worse the Vikings will NOT use their 1st round pick on OL. If they do it will be one of those interior guys in Van's tweet, not a tackle. I'd really like a new LT. Though he's not the weakest link, I want Reiff moved or moved on from.
  10. Also funny, Brooks Baseball is calling Harper's less loopy curveball a slider. It must move a bit more horizontally: http://www.brooksbaseball.net/outcome.php?player=607560&b_hand=-1&gFilt=&pFilt=FA|SI|FC|CU|SL|CS|KN|CH|FS|SB&time=month&startDate=03/30/2007&endDate=04/23/2019&s_type=2 74 MPH sliders are still curveballs in my book.
  11. He's got a long way to go to scrub the memories of the last curveball-only reliever from my mind. Speaking of which, I don't think it's a great idea for this team to carry both Harper and Duffey.
  12. Yeah, good luck to him, I hope he recovers and gets another shot; and I don't care what uniform he's wearing.
  13. This offense is starting to grow on me.
  14. I wanted the team to load up on relievers this offseason and I’m still not happy they didn’t. But at this point I’m going to have to hold my tongue. As a whole, wow, this free agent reliever crop has been miserable. I’m sure plenty will rebound to make the signings look decent but at this time they are nearly all making their respective team’s fans as upset as we are with Mejia and company.
  15. Not sure I like the idea of slotting him right into the lead off spot; we’ve seen him get too inside of his own head before. I think I’d like a 1-2 of Polanco and Buxton though. I have no problem making the change incremental though and slotting him in at the sixth spot in the immediate future.
  16. How long is Kepler going to continue to lead off with both Polanco and Buxton looking good? I understand Castro getting a start when at least one of Garver or Astudillo is manning another position, but when they're both on the bench? Ish, this isn't the Orioles we're playing.
  17. I don't care about cost, but Gio would have no leverage to complain if he had to be put in the pen and the Twins wouldn't have any issues cutting ties with him if he stinks it up. They wouldn't have those luxuries with Keuchel. And at least Gonzalez has been facing live batters. I'd only have modest interest in Gonzalez though maybe I'd even say minimal. I'd guess Perez would be pushed to the pen initially, but I'd really like to find a way to get Odorizzi there; I think I'm always going to struggle trusting him past the 4th or 5th inning.
  18. In the small sample size, they're also terrible at picking OL in the 1st round as well. Under Spielman anyway. But I agree, if I have no faith in Spielman's OL acumen (and I do not), I'd want them to grab as many as they can and cross my fingers. If they have to go that route, and they probably do, I'd be a bit resentful if a stud defensive player was hanging there unexpectedly at #18 and they had to pass on him. Though perhaps Spielman is now delegating those evaluations 100% to Kubiak, whom without really doing any research on his track record, I'd enthusiastically accept as the key OL decision maker. I get the feeling the type of linemen they're looking for aren't traditionally 1st round talent based on size and skill set.
  19. Great submission to TD by the way. I hope it goes without saying that criticisms found in the comment section aren't aimed at the interviewer.
  20. Seems most people have Fant over Hockenson these days. I don't know much though, I'm not really into TEs so I haven't paid them much mind. It's been a long time since any of the elite college TE prospects turned into an elite NFL tight end.
  21. Ha, I guess that answers my second paragraph! Obviously I'd want O lineman who are best suited to running the system we are going to implement. But that better mean Kubiak, Dennison and the rest of the offensive brain trust are expected to be here long term, because I wouldn't want a bunch of guys on the roster who are ill suited to an additional change in a year or two.
  22. Is there any non-O Lineman people would be interested in at pick 1? Don't kill me, I'm just curious! Like someone who if they unexpectedly fell anyone here would prefer? Months ago Montez Sweat and Greedy Williams would have seemed like intriguing choices but they look to have already fallen past initial expectations and no one should be surprised to see them at pick 18. Cody Ford seems to be the popular pick. Does he profile as a "zone blocking" kind of guy? Looks athletic, but bigger than most zone blocking O Lineman. I'm kind of feeling like the Vikings will pick a lineman, but not one that people are expecting or hoping for.
  23. I feel much more strongly about Odorizzi getting pulled after the second time through the lineup against the Astros than I do against the Blue Jays. Ugh, on the other hand, I don't really trust any of the long-men either. Is there a way for Odorizzi to get through 7 innings only facing 18 batters?
  24. Which does bring up an interesting angle; the nearby restaurants and bars surely want the stadium to keep their prices high. While the Twins do offer some interesting options, most of it isn't exactly high cuisine stuff. It's not like you can't get a better qualify burger, sandwich or beer at two dozen places within three blocks of the stadium. So surely the Twins are only marking prices up to help promote the local businesses. Which one is the eye-roll emoji again?
