  1. Yeah, I wasn't thrilled with the day 2 drafting. I hope Smith is great, but I'm just not a fan of the TE position. Most QBs don't utilize them much in the passing game any longer, and frankly, I'm already worried about giving Cousins more excuses to check down. And a RB in round 3? Pass, especially for a plodding downhill runner. I would have rather stayed put or traded up for some of the more popular D line guys than grab a back up running back. I didn't feel this team needed to address the skill positions this early when there seemed to be considerable OL, DL, LB and DB talent available which appeared way more pressing.
  2. I think Gonzalez's track record shows how extremely streaky he is. I liked the signing for his versatility but not for his bat. It will be nice when he's able to go back to a super-utility role; maybe that in itself will help him get back on track.
  3. I just meant that maybe it was to keep him from getting rusty.
  4. What did you get? Stopped there after the opener but I wasn’t impressed with the beer I got and it was too busy to get a flight.
  5. If I want Austudillo to continue to be an option in the outfield, I’d want him to get reps there.
  6. I don’t mind keeping Castro, my problem is how many starts he’s getting.
  7. Waynes for a 4th rounder? If his value is that low I’d keep him. Rhodes probably too. If teams are talking higher 2020 picks I guess I’d listen.
  8. There’s not enough roster spots for a half dozen 6-7 rounders. Which year will he realize this? And probably 70+% chance anyone you draft in round seven could have been a UDFA.
  9. Someone should show Spielman the league success rate of 6-7 round picks. Then they should show him HIS success rate. Why does he like to collect these picks, it’s not like he does more with them than other clubs do? Trade away 6-7 round picks, not FOR them.
  10. I’m all for identifying a new QB, but I’m not a big Rosen fan.
  11. I hope not. Morin, Harper and Magill? I don't know if I can handle that many journeyman-vet feel-good stories on one team. I'd rather finally give Reed or Eades a look or call up Cody Stashak right from AA. Looks like all three of those guys are getting groomed as multi inning relievers; all are averaging 1.5-2 innings per outing.
  12. Yeah, from an outside perspective, which typically seems to be more objective than the local perspective, Keim seems like a terrible GM. Spielman has easily been better and he has his good moments, but I'm still in favor of a change soon. While it's a nice story to have career employees in key positions, I'm in favor of shaking things up when they get stale. This team might not be stale yet, but they get awful close every other year. It wouldn't necessarily have to be Spielman's fault but sometimes new perspectives and theories should be tried. If/when Zimmer is let go, I think they should hunt for a new GM as well, it would seem like an ideal time for an overhaul.
  13. Also probably a good example as to why GMs should be held just as accountable and replaced just as frequently as head coaches.
  14. While that's not good, the team has a .127 point OPS differential at home vs on the road. No one likes hitting in the cold.
  15. I wouldn't think so either, but his big knock is that he's not a good tackler, which is still probably a pretty bid demerit with many clubs. Though not with the Vikings as I recall when the team was talked about as landing spots for Waynes and and Hughes. I always wanted more Antoine Winfields, only to later find out that Zimmer's scheme needs blanket coverage and makeup speed from the outside corners and tackling isn't as big of a concern. Not that I understand that or like it.
  16. I'd like more linemen, and if Little or Risner are still there I'd be interested, but even with the team's OL deficiencies, I can't see them starting two rookies unless there's a late offseason injury. So at this point I'd really want this to be BPA. Preferably that's a super-freak athlete at what ever position he plays.
  17. I would have just liked a tackle to kick Reiff inside. But maybe the ones left aren’t able to overtake him. And maybe Reiff can’t go inside. Either way, still a good pick with Bradbury.
  18. I always want tackles but Bradbury looks like a lower likelihood to bust.
  19. If the Vikings pass on Taylor, Dillard or Bradbury, I imagine Spielman will need to wear a disguise to leave his house? Things are falling really nicely should the Vikings be into the presumed top OL.
  20. I saw one CBS projection where the Vikes trade up into the top 10 to get Jonah Williams. I might be down for trading up for an elite DL but I just don’t trust Spielman picking OL and wasting that equity. I suppose I need to get over it and just assume Kubiak has taken the reigns.
  21. For better or worse, I'd guess most of the OL that teams are trading up for, are likely not the same guys the Vikings are targeting. So all that joking around stuff about Spielman saying that his wife has threatened him if he picks another DB means they're totally taking Greedy Williams right?
  22. I think these are going to be hard cases for the home teams going forward because so far many veteran players haven't quite understood their value has been unfairly tanked by the owners so if the Cardinals wanted to extend him now I'd think the sides would be very far apart. If this were my team I'd probably advocate for the QO but let the player know that they want him back but he's more than welcome to see what kind of offers he can find on the open market. Just see us before you put pen to paper.
  23. Overall this year the arms look better than the bats. But it's early, I'm not panicking until the weather heats up.
  24. I would have taken him as depth, but I'd rather see Perez for the time being, I'm digging his velocity and want to see if it pays off with some more even performances. I'm also hoping to see what Romero, Stewart and Thorpe have to offer sometime this season, and fingers crossed, Graterol. Those guys are going to need a lot of MLB innings if the team is going to be leaning on most of them to fill out the rotation next year.
  25. Draft day trades of already rostered players seem fairly rare. I'm all for it and I think it's odd that it doesn't happen more, but I don't know that I see the Vikings as the kind of quick reflexes team that would feel comfortable moving someone on the fly. It would have to be almost entirely premeditated and shaken on with the other team because I can't see Spielman taking a player from Zimmer without lengthy discussion, something draft day probably doesn't typically afford.
