  1. Well if true, and I suspect you are right, than the teams with the star players who give 100% effort during the playoffs, will get a bigger boost than teams who get 100% effort from their scrappy but less talented players. Which would explain why the top 10 payroll teams absolutely dominate when it comes to winning the World Series.
  2. The Giants look to be hiring the manager of the University of Tennessee and plenty of people are aghast at such a move. MLB's staunch resistance to change and new ideas while clinging to nostalgia and tradition is what is killing this league. Every other pro sport league dabbles in hiring top level college coaches and they have for decades, but not MLB. 'We're so precious and elite, such a peon could NEVER manage a team at OUR level!!!' This Old Boys club nonsense is so outdated. And if the Twins seriously want to bring someone in who eagerly will work with and develop young hitters, a college coach should be considered here as well.
  3. I noticed never noticing him and I noticed he didn't have any stats. I didn't know he got zero defensive snaps though. He was a great story. But unless he can hold up as an edge rusher, and he almost certainly can't, he's just such a liability. Other QBs were literally audibling from runs to passes just to go after him.
  4. If McCarthy doesn't get rid of the ball faster than he did the first two weeks, he's not going to stay healthy for the entirety of the last 11 games.
  5. For sure. At this point nobody thinks Wentz is a savior. I'd be more concerned with internally the coaches and players knowing JJ's shortcomings and them being significant.
  6. Wentz was really bad. But outside of those two late sacks, he was pretty decisive and got rid of the ball despite pressure. Poor throws and poor decisions, but decisive. Im really concerned JJ can’t make reads anywhere close to fast enough for this league and won’t get past his first option. So it could be poor throws, poor decisions and at a snails pace. Still, the Vikings made this decision, they have to try.
  7. If they give Wentz a chance to redeem himself and they win, it will be even harder to put McCarthy in. But yeah, they might do that.
  8. This sucks in the moment, but I stand by my first post today, this might be for the best. This would have been a terrible game for McCarthy. Now there should be no question that JJ needs to get the rest of the starts, even if he struggles. This team really needs to reasonably know what they have in him by the end of the year.
  9. Yeah, they didn't do anything to try to save clock on that drive. Not sure what KOC and Wentz were thinking.
  10. Yeah, now you do.
  11. Should have kicked it before the 2 minute warning. Kick off though the end zone and you get three TOs and the warning.
  12. Did Hock actually catch that after dropping that easy one?
  13. Do we do no-huddle?
  14. Yeah, so unbelievably stupid.
  15. This is going to sound stupid: Looking back later, that field goal may have been better than taking the lead. I don't think we want the Eagles playing from behind until the very end of the game. They never play conservative offensively, but we don't want them playing even less conservatively.
  16. Wasn't at all calling you out. Just the average local fan. Few people posting on this message board are that casual though.
  17. You can go ahead and keep these jinx kind of statements quiet, thank you very much.
  18. I don't think it will be any more likely to happen with Brosmer. I really wish Brosmer would have landed somewhere else. The Jets or Raiders? Maybe he's even starting now. This is really a no-win situation for the Vikings. I've long disliked the home-town player angle with the Twins because the team gives them too long of a leash and the local fans care more about the story than the production and ownership will lean into it to make money. It's never bothered me with the Vikings because the league is so much more cutthroat. But imagine if Brosmer started today and did everything Wentz has done; Minnesota fans would have been tripping all over themselves trying to excuse the poor play.
  19. I'd rather lose with Wentz. If Brosmer looks even slightly competent McCarthy will get booed after every incomplete pass the rest of his life. I don't think this team can handle a QB controversy between two inexperienced QBs.
  20. Theo Jackson looked like he was taking that play off. That was some of the worst safety help I've seen where it wasn't actually blown coverage.
  21. Next time the NFL tries to expand, they need to sit back and watch the low-lights of 2025 QB play. This is what they'll get. There's not enough competent QBs on the planet to run NFL offenses. Seems like maybe 60% of the teams have one.
  22. Sorry, but we can look at all of the over-achieving low payroll teams and find something they do different than everyone else. Prior to the Brewers (regular season) success, no one was able to copy the Rays (regular season) success and prior to that, no one was able to copy the Twins and the A's (regular season) success. The actual path is vague and can come from many avenues. A low payroll franchise has (regular season) success, which builds confidence and keeps the franchise floating on top for several years because confidence and learning how to use it breeds more wins. There's tons of ways teams can build that confidence and keep it rolling. However, NOT developing your own homegrown talent is an incredibly inefficient way to build a team. This is most definitely not a path the Twins nor any other low payroll team should try to emulate.
  23. Vikings defense is looking great. Cashman coming back has been huge. I haven't heard his name called, but with him and Wilson, the Vikings aren't forced to use Pace and have to hide him in coverage. This looks like last year's defense. Finally.
  24. I'm wondering how many broken ribs he has right now. The Philly two game losing streak is not helping the Vikings right now. I watched those two games, and this defense was NOT this good the last two weeks. They definitely pulled their act together on the defensive side of the ball.
  25. Should have run on 3rd and 1. The other two play calls were spot on.
