  1. Wasn't at all calling you out. Just the average local fan. Few people posting on this message board are that casual though.
  2. You can go ahead and keep these jinx kind of statements quiet, thank you very much.
  3. I don't think it will be any more likely to happen with Brosmer. I really wish Brosmer would have landed somewhere else. The Jets or Raiders? Maybe he's even starting now. This is really a no-win situation for the Vikings. I've long disliked the home-town player angle with the Twins because the team gives them too long of a leash and the local fans care more about the story than the production and ownership will lean into it to make money. It's never bothered me with the Vikings because the league is so much more cutthroat. But imagine if Brosmer started today and did everything Wentz has done; Minnesota fans would have been tripping all over themselves trying to excuse the poor play.
  4. I'd rather lose with Wentz. If Brosmer looks even slightly competent McCarthy will get booed after every incomplete pass the rest of his life. I don't think this team can handle a QB controversy between two inexperienced QBs.
  5. Theo Jackson looked like he was taking that play off. That was some of the worst safety help I've seen where it wasn't actually blown coverage.
  6. Next time the NFL tries to expand, they need to sit back and watch the low-lights of 2025 QB play. This is what they'll get. There's not enough competent QBs on the planet to run NFL offenses. Seems like maybe 60% of the teams have one.
  7. Sorry, but we can look at all of the over-achieving low payroll teams and find something they do different than everyone else. Prior to the Brewers (regular season) success, no one was able to copy the Rays (regular season) success and prior to that, no one was able to copy the Twins and the A's (regular season) success. The actual path is vague and can come from many avenues. A low payroll franchise has (regular season) success, which builds confidence and keeps the franchise floating on top for several years because confidence and learning how to use it breeds more wins. There's tons of ways teams can build that confidence and keep it rolling. However, NOT developing your own homegrown talent is an incredibly inefficient way to build a team. This is most definitely not a path the Twins nor any other low payroll team should try to emulate.
  8. Vikings defense is looking great. Cashman coming back has been huge. I haven't heard his name called, but with him and Wilson, the Vikings aren't forced to use Pace and have to hide him in coverage. This looks like last year's defense. Finally.
  9. I'm wondering how many broken ribs he has right now. The Philly two game losing streak is not helping the Vikings right now. I watched those two games, and this defense was NOT this good the last two weeks. They definitely pulled their act together on the defensive side of the ball.
  10. Should have run on 3rd and 1. The other two play calls were spot on.
  11. Bad drop, then bad pass, then bad penalty. Despite what Greg Olson said, that was not a hold.
  12. This game sucks but might be a long term blessing. This is absolutely the matchup JJ should have avoided. And now there should be no question the Vikings should turn back to him. And it will feel like the ‘lost season’ needed to get JJ reps with lower pressure stakes.
  13. And that’s the only reason Falvey wouldn’t hire him. That’s exactly what he was aiming for with Rocco Baldelli.
  14. Also, why would the Phillies eat 18-19M of a 20M contract unless the twins were giving up a Jenkins caliber prospect?
  15. Can’t edit thread titles so let’s try again.
  16. I agree with the sentiment, but #1 kind of conflicts with #2-4. If the team is focused on developing a young, and most importantly to ownership, cheap core, they can't constantly be losing their jobs to Kody Clemens, Manny Margot and Mickey Gaspar because they don't figure it out right away. But I suspect your #2-4 were more aimed at the opposite approach Baldelli took; it was predetermined that journeymen vets would get all the playing time they could handle.
  17. I really don't want a familiar face coming in, that seems too comfortable for everyone involved. To start out, I want them to have NO comfort. And not just because I'm petty and jaded, but because I don't want anyone to know what to expect so they're constantly learning and adapting to changes whether they'd like to or not. But also because I'm petty and jaded.
  18. *****Moderator Note***** Somehow this thread has gone off the rails making posts personal. Enough of that, back to the topic at hand.
  19. I backed the McCarthy pick solely because I believe that KOC knows what to look for in a QB. But there may be a fatal flaw here that the Vikings should have seen coming. If you believe an inexperienced college QB needs more reps than he got in college to hit his potential, can you also believe in giving him those reps on a team that wants to contend? I don't think both things can be true and the Vikings should have seen what happened with Trey Lance in SF. He only got FOUR starts and all four seemed to be against Shanahan's will. To be clear, I liked McCarthy slightly better than Nix and much better than Penix, but I think there are scenarios where you can't pick the Lance/McCarthy types. Those guys have to go to teams that know they aren't going to compete but will let them get the reps they need to be ready when they do. But if actual game reps aren't required, and he can eventually get where he needs to be just by watching, then I guess there's no issue getting the developmental QB and contending. I'm skeptical though.
  20. Yeah, the OL is a good start. The offensive coaches though are really odd choices. QB coach Bo Hardegree looks like he got hired because he's an old buddy of Callahan; the offenses on his resume are all-time bad offenses. And what exactly did Mike McCoy do with Trevor Lawrence the past three seasons that screams, "Let's put him together with Cam Ward!!!!"?
  21. I'm not confused, we all agree that Sanders is likely a terrible NFL QB. I just disagree with the bar you have for Gabriel. Obviously, if you're a QB for the Browns your career is already starting in the toilet. But he has enough encouraging traits that he might be a perfectly acceptable QB down the road on an actual NFL team.
  22. I'm not saying Gabriel is good, but there are tons of bad QBs in the league right now, including Fields. And Flacco, Cam Ward, Bryce Young and Geno Smith. I'd start Gabriel over any of them and I'd start Sheduer Sanders over none of them. I'd cut him right now actually; he's doing nothing but causing distractions on an already dysfunctional team. He clearly doesn't have the make up to be an NFL QB. I'm not sure he has the make up for any job outside of Instagram Influencer.
  23. Yeah, so congrats to Cam Ward for being the next NFL QB who is going to be jerked around with new coaches and new offenses regularly early in his career. Here's a controversial take (well probably not here because no one cares about the Titans), but the Titans current QB coach, Bo Hardegree, is the one who was the QB coach for the bad versions of Derek Carr, Ryan Tannahill and Will Levis, while also working on offenses that oversaw the bad versions of Mac Jones and Sam Darnold early in their careers. Meanwhile Brian Callahan was the QB coach for Mattew Stafford in his prime and the OC for Joe Burrow while being an assistant on the Broncos when Peyton Manning was there. Background out of the way, if the Titans want a shot at salvaging Ward, they should have considered demoting Brian Callahan to QB coach, who at least has worked with elite QB talent before. It would have been awkward but could have perhaps been salvaged by promoting his dad to interim HC. His dad did coach a team to the Super Bowl after all, he's qualified for an interim job. I'd guess he won't take it now that his son was fired though.
  24. Has Gabriel been bad? He's a rookie. Through the same number of games, his numbers are way better than McCarthy's. And Gabriel has had to play against two good NFL defenses.
  25. The owners probably aren't going to propose a floor, even though they know they will need one within 90% of the cap, because they'll make the MLBPA demand it. Then the owners get to act like it's a concession they are making, instead of the logical companion to the cap they want.
