    Wow, that's a pretty great deal if the terms are accurate. He falls into that Gausman/Ray/Rodon price range, but basically only a three year commitment. Those guys all got 5-6 year commitments.

    Dorian-Thompson does look interesting. Though I never know what to make of QBs whose stock drops with the draft wonks after the season ends. I do want an athlete at QB though. Assuming Young is un-gettable and Richardson is unlikely, a QB next year is a good idea, except for the fact that this organization is internationally putting a team together that should still finish in the second half of the draft.

    I love sports history. There was a time where I could list every 3000 hit, 300 Win and 500 HR club member in order. Along with the all time top rushers, passers and receivers and scorers in the NFL and NBA. But if we’re being honest, Babe Ruth never saw a slider in his life, Ted Williams never saw a 98 MPH fastball ( sorry Bob Feller, you’re wrong) and Jim Brown would be slower than defensive lineman these days. Doesn’t change their greatness comparatively, but evolution is just undeniable. You want pitchers to throw more pitches or innings? They’ll have to tone down the velocity. What do you think batters these days do to 88 MPH fastballs? And consider that the Greg Maddox type vets don’t get six inch extensions on both sides of the zone.

    Also, while I'm sure Ober understands it's just about the timing, putting a chip on a pitcher's shoulder often leads to magnificent results.

    Unlike last year, they haven't shown a need to hit the bullpen hard. I'd guess they'd still turn to Magill, but if they don't, turning to one of the extra starters, either the ones already at the MLB level, or the ones in St. Paul for an game or two wouldn't be the end of the world.

    Me too. Though my visits could be counted by a three toed sloth. Though if one were to solely rate their visit based on their favorite baseball team's performance in New York, I could see the counter argument.

    Yeah, I ripped him up and down, mostly because I wanted to find a way to get Julien into the lineup. He's hitting AND Julien is up? Everything goes my way. I feel like a Kardashian!

    Assuming it's not a QB, my top choices are front seven players. I see Myles Murphy all over the board, but he's probably my top choice. I'd bet he's more likely to go top ten than bottom ten though. I want some beef upfront, but Bryan Breese is probably the only true interior guy I want in the first round, and I only assume he could fit our system. Maybe he doesn't. I'd LIKE to like Calijah Kancey more, but I have a tough time getting over his size. I suppose if the Vikings picked him everyone would make John Randle comparisons and he'd end up being my new favorite player despite my feelings now. Nolan Smith and BJ Ojulari are my other favorite edge guys. I suppose I should also like Lukas Van Ness since the Big 10 has actually been pretty good at producing DE's lately. Not sure if he's a fit for our system though either. 270 is a bit light for a 3-4 DE. I'm not looking at WRs but if they were to get one with a 1st round pick, I think Jaxon Smith-Njigba is the only one I'd want at this time. They blow another top pick on a DB and I'll probably break my TV. This is the only organization that seems to think your backfield needs to be made exclusively of 1st and 2nd round picks. Every other team has 3rd, 4th, 6th UDFA guys making up their backfield, but not this one. Two front offices in a row too. Those guys are the RBs of the defense, they're mostly a product of the system.

    Yeah, for sure, the Tennessee offense makes a QB look good. His ability to process a progression is in question, but only because he wasn't asked to. But sounds like he's got great mechanics a quick release and great arm strength. Those things probably weren't at the top of my wish list five years ago, but they do seem to be a fairly reliable evaluation tools right now. And he can scramble. QBs play forever these days though, so his age doesn't bother me. I'd also take the back over the OL. If Robinson fell, I'd be interested. Likely not my top choice, but he'd be exciting.

    I'd be up for trading for Bryce Young. And it would be crazy to see a RB go that high again; at this point, the position is being way undervalued so someone should take Robinson high. I'm not sure what to make of Hooker, but I like him more than Will Levis, who looks as talented as Justin Herbert, but as indecisive and as easily rattled as Christian Ponder. CJ Stroud is a better QB than Hooker, but considering I want a QB who can and WILL run when needed, I don't want him (or frankly any OSU QB) either. Richardson is still a wild card, but you could dream on him. If I were forced to rank the QBs, Hooker would actually be 2nd or 3rd on my list. But, I'm well aware that my tastes don't match those in the industry. Anyway, I guess that's probably a spicy take. I'm up for trading just about anyone other than our star WR and the OTs. I don't like the idea of trading down, particularly because I don't yet trust this front office to evaluate the non-elite prospects. I get this team needs more picks, but they should have thought about that long before now.

    I know this won't go over well, but if everyone was healthy, I'd honestly prefer Garlick to Kepler. Offensively they're a push, maybe Garlick's a bit better, but Garlick's is a righty. I mean, option C is preferable if option C emerges.

    If he hits, there's no reason to send him down and keep Castro up.

    I'll take his bat even if I get nothing else, because so far half of the team is incapable of hitting.

    Handing out extra base hits? We're talking about dealing with two or three outs per game. That's it. And you somehow think he's going to bungle half of them that Taylor wouldn't? That's beyond unreasonable.

    Seems like there's a lot of wanting the cake and eating it too. Everyone complained about all the injuries and missed time last year and now the team is at least trying to control that with Buxton but that's not satisfactory either. Aside from the reconstructed knee, Buxton has also had plenty of soft tissue injuries, so I'd guess having him run as little as possible in the cold months is also part of the plan. I'm not saying I care for any of this, and since I don't know the specific diagnosis, I have no idea if I'd agree with the current plan, but there's little need to explain why they are using significant caution as we are all familiar with the Byron Buxton saga by now.

    Taylor has 22 putouts in ten games this year, that's barely two outs a game. How many fewer balls would Gallo get to in a week than Taylor would? One? Probably less than one? They do not get as many chances to mess up as you think, and certainly not an amount that's significant. We're not talking about putting Miguel Sano in CF, it's a guy who's done it capably in the past. The Twins have too many bad hitters, and I'm just looking for any way to minimize that. Taylor was brought in to be a back up, Gallo wasn't. If they want to bench Gallo instead of Taylor, that might be only a slight offensive downgrade, but I don't see that happening. So let Gallo, who is guaranteed a spot when healthy, take the spot of the guy who has no business being in the lineup every day. And just send Willi Castro down already. He's redundant in the field and unusable at the plate.

    Sorry, I was thinking of the runner up Phillies, not the Astros and their OF defense was worse than Gallo, Larnach and Wallner who aren't nearly as bad as you're suggesting. Gallo in CF is probably similar to when the Twins had to use Kepler out there. It wasn't the end of the world. Outfield defense is rarely as glaringly bad as infield defense. It's not like balls are dropped regularly, the issue just tends to be they don't get to a ball that a better outfielder would get to, but those balls aren't nearly as common as fans would think. And yeah, Chicago's defense is terrible and gave the Twins two free runs. And they still beat the Twins. I'm certainly not asking Gallo, Wallner and Julien to save the Twins. I've made my dislike of the Gallo signing since it happened. I just want to consolidate Gallo and Taylor into one liability. I've also stated my uncertainty about Wallner panning out due to his strikeouts, but at this point his roster spot is unavoidable. Julien, the one player with hope for upside is the one that should be up, yet isn't. He perhaps can create a spark.

    I don't think Gallo would be as bad as advertised, probably similar to when the Twins needed to put Kepler in CF back in the day. If that's not doable, then they have to give Kyle Farmer an OF glove and tell him to learn fast. Taylor and Castro cannot be regular starters, they should be 1-2 times per week subs. Gordon's looking like last year was a fluke too. They've scored more than three runs only three times this year. Yesterday they should have scored one but the White Sox gave them two freebies. They're above .500 and there's no need to panic right now, but if they go on a skid, they're going to have to at least try to put the best offense out there that they can, even if it's a suboptimal defense. The worst defensive team in baseball won the World Series last year. I doubt the worst offensive team ever has. Also, for the first fifth of this century this would have seemed unfathomable, but the Twins pitchers are leading the league in K% at 30%. The pitchers are finally getting outs all on their own now.

    That should have been 3 days ago. Either call up Julien, or make a tough decision on someone else. This is ridiculous.

    I'm not sweating Miranda. His strikeout rate is down from last year and his walk rate is doubled. He's got a .241 BABIP. He's making contact, they're just not falling yet.

    Listening to Gladden rip Chicago's defense rings a bit hallow considering their terrible defense just beat our terrible offense.

    Well the Twins scored three more runs than I figured they would. Pretty bummed I didn't get to see a pitcher hit though.

    Especially when he had a minor league option and they already had Farmer, Gordon and Solano as infield options.
