  1. I don't care about contending for the division though. I only care about winning the World Series. And this club lost the benefit of that 'chip-chair-and-a-chance' perspective a decade ago. From my view, they're only a contender when they roll into the playoffs as one of the top favorites. I don't think that's been the case for this franchise since the '06 team.
  2. Bednar is controlled for another 4.5 years. I can't imagine he's actually available.
  3. I think Winder is ONLY not on the MLB roster because he wasn't going to get another start again before the AS break and they wanted the extra reliever.
  4. I want them to buy, but I don't think being in 1st place makes them a contender. The cutesy David vs. Goliath narrative that Minnesota teams LOVE to push bothers me to no end. Just go out and be Goliath for once. Nothing wrong with being the favorite. I don't think any amount of trades gets them there this year though. I think the youngsters need to get a taste of the war before they become battle hardened enough to wreak havoc.
  5. Twins took another Alabama pitcher. Draft a buddy for Prielipp so he signs for less. Genius move.
  6. Ah, I still remember when Miguel Sano was a shortstop. Might be worth a look to give him some reps there again.
  7. Just sign the one that will be a HOFer.
  8. Any available mission trips in Fort Myers?
  9. I prep shortstop!?!?!? Heck yes, sign me up!
  10. There has been at Target Field this year too. Even when the pitcher had someone to throw to.
  11. Awesome looking numbers too! Put him on the 26-man! https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=cosset000and
  12. Seems like Jeremy was on the same page as the GMs of the rest of the league as most of those guys went in the 4th round or higher. Looks like Alex Kachel is still there if the Twins want to give Jeremy a win.
  13. I could live with that trade. Balazovic and Martin are really eating dirt right now though so they likely have much less value than we in Twins nation might like to think. I think trading for Castillo would send an incredibly loud and invigorating message, but based on how the pitchers do away from Cincinnati, I think Mahle may end up being more impactful on the field. And likely cheaper.
  14. Good article. Says his brother goes to Stetson so there might be a draw there for him. Either way, I'd be happy to see the Twins able to sign any upside HS kid. Hylton sounds like a good one to gamble on.
  15. Well there are still plenty of 'ranked' prep players but most of them wouldn't take any reasonable bonus at this point; college is their landing spot with the hope of getting the big bucks in a couple of years. Most will probably still get drafted just in case they change their minds, and some even may sign, but that seems to be knowledge that's kept between the teams and the players themselves.
  16. Yeah, we're kind of in the dark here since we don't know if the Twins needed to save all the money for the top of their draft, or if they saved money for today. I'd imagine we'll know after the next pick.
  17. So far I haven't thought of a reason why using road splits as the prime evaluation tool isn't the right way to go. I don't like his road splits. Tyler Mahle is still my top choice.
  18. That's a lofty goal. Looking back at Twins draft picks, I don't see that as a very attainable goal. Larnach never hit .350. Neither did Spencer Steer, or Brent Rooker or Matt Wallner or Ryan Jeffers. So far, for the Twins, I've only found one recent college bat of note to do it, Encarnacion-Strand, and he only hit .358.
  19. Also, ideally a good team would have utility players who could actually be full time starters for other teams.
  20. Yeah, Morneau rope-a-doped Hamilton! Remembering back on it, I remember how disappointed all of non-Twins nation was that Hamilton didn't get the crown for that performance. I'm guessing if the two battled again today, there wouldn't be too many people cheering for Hamilton.
  21. They might be seeing it that way, but in 2019 they drafted contact hitters (along with a few power hitters too) and those contact guys are developing power. Quite a bit in some cases. But I don't know that they're sick of all the strikeouts. The Twins are 11th in the league in strikeout percentage, so they're above average in that regard.
  22. Or Spencer Steer or Eduard Julian or Alex Isola. It's hard to judge the batters by power or the pitchers by velocity because they seemed to have figured out a few tricks to soup up these players that we're not used to seeing.
  23. I don't know about you guys, but I didn't get my corner OF masher fix this year. Surely that's going to disappoint the masses.
