  1. I've always been fond of this Margot guy. Don't check my math on that either.
  2. Down to 24.30. I'm going to lie and say I'm doing the math myself.
  3. Down to 34.71! My math says he'll get it down to about 1.50 some time around the 5th inning.
  4. Well it's already gone from 54.00 to 40.50!
  5. As a matter of fact they aren't.
  6. I wouldn't miss Zach Weiss or Josh Staumont.
  7. Uhoh, et tu Framber Valdez?
  8. Martin only got three plate appearances, he was pretty much only (foolishly) used as a pinch runner. If that's all they planned to do with him, Miranda would have been a better choice for promotion a week ago. Barring another injury, I'm guessing Martin goes down when Thielbar or the next reliever is brought into the fold. I hope Miranda hits right out of the gate, but even if he doesn't, I hope the front office realizes the benefits of his reliable sub 20% strikeout rate and gives him a healthy leash.
  9. Going forward, I'd really like this team to target consistent performers. The Jekyll and Hyde players are too often killing the lineup. I don't understand how teams continually assume a one year blip on an otherwise checkered past is indicative of what the guy will do next. I'd rather have a guy who predictably puts up a .750-.770 OPS than a guy who'll have an .820 OPS one year and a .700 OPS the following.
  10. And if payroll was so precious to them this offseason, they could have done way better with his salary.
  11. I've got three kids, so yes, it's too early to whine, I get enough of it at home. I like the young core of the team, but I think the organization has bungled the hitting philosophy and I don't see that as something that can easily be fixed mid-season. They also bungled the rotation by not replacing Sonny Gray. So while I still see them getting hot enough for stretches to win the division, I don't see post season success in the cards this year. Ergo, I'll listen (not watch because they also bungled the TV situation) with interest but low expectations, sans whining.
  12. Back in the day umpires purposefully gave good experienced pitchers (that generally being pitchers too expensive for the Twins to afford) a bigger strikezone. Now the umpires only errantly expand the strikezone against the Twins, likely due to the perception that they strike out a lot. I don't like the Twins current hitting philosophy, but they shouldn't be penalized doubly simply because of incompetent or spiteful umpiring; umpires 100% should not be influencing game plans. Considering it takes an act of god to get rid of bad umpires at the MLB level, they need to move forward with the automated strikezone. There have been a bunch of changes to the game recently, and while there was lots of consternation prior to implementation, most of the changes have been accepted, this one would too.
  13. https://www.linkedin.com/in/diegocastillo97/ This one's a VP at Bank of America. Seems like the type that might be able to negotiate a better TV deal. Worth an interview at least.
  14. I think it's a continuation of 2023. I know the bats picked up at the end of the year, but this is pretty much what we saw the first 4-5 months of last year too. I don't think their 'take all the pitches' hitting philosophy is the one-size-fits-all approach they think it is.
  15. Yeah, as much as I like to see Cleveland short handed, this is getting to be a problem leaguewide. For the same reason the NFL tries to protect QBs, it's not good for the game if MLBs best pitchers can no longer stay healthy.
  16. Trading for a big pitcher doesn't seem like a Cleveland move. Definitely sucks for Bieber, but seems like it doesn't suck for the Twins. Obviously this hurts Cleveland this year, but he was also on the short list to get traded for a huge haul. Now they won't get a dime for him as he'll be a free agent before he's ready to pitch again.
  17. I'm more excited that they won't go 0-10 today
  18. When other teams get runners on, many pitchers tend to start nibbling at the corners to avoid leaving a big hit out over the plate. Obviously nibbling leads to more balls, which leads to more base runners. So if the other team knows that the Twins won't swing at the first pitch, the Twins are putting themselves at a huge disadvantage. No need to nibble. In the long run, the Twins won't be seeing more pitches, they'll just be taking more called strikes.
  19. Ha go figure, Clase was the only Guardian not to strike out a batter. Looooooser!!!!
  20. Well when was the last time Jeffers came through in the clutch?
  21. Yeah, lots to complain about this year, but the bullpen isn't one of them.
