  1. Obviously not, my suggestion was quite the opposite. If the reliever had been Chafin instead of Richards they didn't do enough. But as expected. A D- deadline day grade isn't more satisfactory than an F deadline day grade. Without increasing the payroll, they had no shot at doing enough.
  2. Sure, but unless they got another front line starter or middle of the order bat, he could watch the other team celebrate after sweeping the Twins in the first round with the other seven. No way the community here would be in good spirits if he was the sole prize this afternoon. It's easy to rank guys like Richards or Chafin or Lorenzen but they're all still just varying degrees of 'you didn't do enough to win'.
  3. How about last years budget to start? As to the roster, put one on the field that can win it all. The end.
  4. How to answer that? …. First part, no, not Dobnak. Second part, can we switch it to November?
  5. Andrew Chafin is the missing piece to win a World Series?
  6. I know, I was being snarky until I realized he was injured, not unemployed.
  7. Was there actual top end talent that got moved that didn’t come with a price tag Joe Pohlad wouldn't have ran screaming from? I can’t imagine there was.
  8. It won't fix anything, but it sure would be nice for him to get the tough questions that he created instead of making Falvey and Baldelli deal with something they had no control over.
  9. Jay Harry is definitely a better fit up north in Toronto. He sounds like a character out of Strange Brew.
  10. I never liked the Staumont signing. I liked the strikeout potential, but his sketchy command never seemed like a good fit. At least Trevor Richards BB% is .......... hmmmmmmmm.
  11. Not sure how many of them were decent and I'm not sure the prices were very reasonable either. This was clearly a seller's market. The Twins made their beds last winter. They had their reckoning from the fans then, but I'm not going to shed a tear for them if the fans want to pile on again now.
  12. You may get what you wish for. Looks like Michael Fulmer is available to anyone willing to offer him a contract. Edit: Nope, looks like the Red Sox have his rights while he's out for the year.
  13. Yeah, I definitely didn't want any token moves that didn't actually mean anything. But I'm quite confident there's not a soul in the Twins PR staff that would dare to make the fans think this is anything other than quarter step up from a waiver wire move.
  14. This guy was actually pretty good. In 2021.
  15. Not a contender. Neither is KC. Cleveland may yet sneak out a bye, but they ain't brining home a trophy this year either. The AL champ will come from the significantly more talented AL East or AL West teams.
  16. I don't like our owners, but it can get worse. Sure, the Mets got a big spender, but they're in NY. What if we got the disaster that's the new ownership of the Marlins?
  17. I'm going to need some clarification on this breaking the internet thing. Was it a celebratory breaking, or riotous?
  18. None of them make the Twins a contender, and all of them were such blasé moves, they wouldn't have improved the mood on this site one bit.
  19. Did they improve that much? KC got a platoon IF, a flakey 5th starter who can't miss bats and a reliever who's been good all of three months. Cleveland got a platoon CF and a 5th starter who hasn't pitched at all this year. I would have wanted nothing to do with the players those two teams got. The Twins are pissing me off right now, but those guys slightly improve those teams while they wouldn't do much for the Twins; their roster is still better than both of them. I'm definitely not jealous of their mid season "upgrades".
  20. Sam Dyson is a former journeyman relief pitcher, playing for Toronto, Miami, Texas, San Francisco and very briefly the Minnesota Twins. He was born in Tampa Florida and was drafted by the Blue Jays in the 4th round of the 2010 draft out of the university of South Carolina. Dyson was a functional reliever bouncing around between teams from 2012 through 2019. Despite struggling to miss bats, he had a career high 38 saves for the Rangers in 2016. At the last minute of the trade deadline on July 31st, 2019 he was traded from the Giants to the Twins for Jaylin Davis, Prelander Berroa and Kai-Wei Teng. Things started out rough as he joined the Twins in Miami the next day entering the game in the 9th with a 4-1 lead giving up 2 hits, 2 walks and 3 ER without getting an out. Controversy surrounded the trade as it was soon revealed that Dyson was pitching with an injured shoulder, which would eventually lead to season ending surgery. He never pitched in the major leagues again. However things would take an even darker turn soon after when he was accused of assaulting and pointing a handgun at his ex girlfriend, all this while he was still pitching professionally. The courting filings also leveled accusations of racist rants he would make against other MLB players. View full player
