  1. But more often than not it isn't good contact - soft liners to the infield and popups don't really move runners along. He's got the disregard for strike zone and eye-hand coordination of Kirby Puckett and the power of Jarvis Brown.
  2. Um, what part of Arraez's game can Astudillo replicate? He's slower; his bat less potent; his strike zone judgment is non-existent; and aside from being able to occupy the area surrounding several of the same positions, he is a steep downgrade defensively ... to a guy that isn't exactly a gloveman himself. Tortuga doing anything but assisting TC Bear with the T-shirt cannon in the postseason is a nightmare scenario.
  3. If anyone had to get hurt on that collision, it should've been the one that they don't need for the playoff roster. If Arraez and Adrianza both can't go in the ALDS, does that mean Torreyes makes the roster so they have an emergency SS? If the bench is Torreyes, Castro, Astudillo, and Cave, I'm not real pumped about that at all.
  4. Couldn't have waited to post this until after the game was over?
  5. I think what he could provide - in one form or another - is an opportunity to upgrade the pitching staff. I think it's still TBD whether that means including him in a package for pitching, or if it allows them to move Gordon or Rosario as pieces for something. If all of the big pieces stay put (and healthy), I see him as a super utility guy ... unless his glove improves at second, in which case I'd want him to have the job.
  6. One thing that should be noted is that from the things I've read, Pineda took Hydrochlorothiazide, which you can't get OTC. It has to be prescribed. So unless it's been erroneously reported, and I haven't seen an update to the story, he's lying about what he took. That, to me, is also a pretty big thing.
  7. Are you one of the in-laws or something? I don't understand such a strong campaign over Molitor seemingly wrong him.
  8. I wish they'd back up the trucks for a Cole offer, but I don't see it happening. QO for Odo. Offer Pineda a "you owe us" contract. Watch the market on Gibson and see where it goes from there.
  9. Lots of people hit really well in spring training. It means nothing.
  10. Unless they leave him on the 40 over the winter.
  11. He's not local. His in-laws are.
  12. Yuck. I thought they were done making moves like this.
  13. I'm guessing it's part to do with the Giants' slow process, and part to do with his funky delivery and wondering if it would play at the top level.
  14. I'm not worried about whether or Luis develops over-the-fence power, but IMO he'll have to find some gaps with more frequency or become a defensive wizard to be a long-term, everyday player ... at least at one position. Utility guy that won't kill you at multiple positions, isn't a liability on the basepaths, can work a count, and slap singles around is a valuable piece to have - basically Marwin-Lite, and there's nothing wrong with that.
  15. I think Wade is still on the IL, so the options from AAA are Barnes, De Aza, Wiel, and Rooker once he's off the IL. I'd love to see them get aggressive and bring up Kirilloff or Larnach, but I don't see it happening.
  16. Maybe something to do with his stupid Instagram cat?
  17. Maybe that was the mast plan all along: wait for Houston to overpay, swoop in during the offseason to snag Cole. Genius.
  18. Fine, I was just kidding. A last-minute desperation move is fine. JUST DO SOMETHING!!
