  1. While I'm far from sold on him, a rain shortened outing fresh off of the DL is hardly a sample large enough to draw any conclusions.
  2. Thanks for filling in Seth. These have become a must read every morning for me, so I appreciate the effort of Tom and yourself!
  3. 24 was a pretty good age for me, especially in retrospect. It was a bit tough at the time, but I've been reaping the benefits of that year ever since. I had three major life changing events occur within a two week span. After six months of job searching after being laid off I accepted a job offer in the Cities. Three days later, I was in Florida getting married (date was set before I got laid off). A week after that, we were in the Cities searching for apartments. A couple of days after that we moved from Fargo to the Cities and the next day I started my new job. We no longer live in the apartment, but I'm still married to the same wonderful bride and still employed by the same employer. The chaos seemed to be worth the chaos.
  4. I follow this rule pretty closely...except for when it involves my wife in which case I usually go with some random age well north of retirement age. I like to live dangerously.
  5. Sadly, I wasn't far off on this one. Two out of three ain't bad. Posted 26 June 2017 - 09:10 PM ashburyjohn, on 26 Jun 2017 - 9:08 PM, said: I predict a different outcome tomorrow. 14-2 loss? Rain? Perfectly executed sac bunt? Edited by wsnydes, 26 June 2017 - 09:10 PM.
  6. Which may have happened even if Giminez took the AB in that situation. They may have walked Mauer to get to Rosario and Buxton even with runners on 1st and 2nd. We don't know how it would have played out, but I would rather be the aggressor than the reacting party. Force the opponent to make decisions.
  7. Cigars or players? I'd be tempted to split it and get both.
  8. He may not be flashy, but he's been solid. I've got no complaints with the job he's done. He's been a stabilizing force at the end of that pen, it's getting him that is the issue. This kind of reminds me of the Rauch/Capps argument. Their numbers were very similar, but went about getting them two different ways. I don't know that either was more or less effective than the other but since Capps had more velocity he was somehow deemed better closer material. It never made sense to me.
  9. I don't think most fans are ignoring the numbers on Belisle that you state, they're looking at other other 10 outings in which he's gotten shelled. When a guy gets lit up like that 1/3 of the time, that's a bit disconcerting to be thrown into high leverage situations as much as he does. I get that this pen sucks, but I think usage is a reasonable knock. My bigger beef with Breslow is how Molitor uses him. Too often he's brought in to face nothing but righties with predictable results.
  10. Why try something different when you can trot a guy with an ERA over 7 and a penchant for making small leads big leads out there?
  11. 14-2 loss? Rain? Perfectly executed sac bunt?
  12. More offensive: Twins offense or Twins pitchers. Thoughts?
  13. Automate the strike zone you say?
  14. Either way, we both got our crappy references in.
  15. So your saying that the reign of terror is short lived?
  16. We'll, he's improving. That pitch was at least in the general vicinity of the strike zone at one point this time.
  17. I NEED TP FOR MY BASEBALL TEAM!
  18. I don't have enough scotch to watch Fletch 2 either...
  19. We'll, I guess the silver lining is that the damage was limited to only two. For now anyway.
  20. I don't think that could have been said better. Very astute of them.
  21. My God he's lucky Pedroia didn't hit that a mile.
  22. Enter Belisle... My scotch glass is empty, I'm not sure the situation could get more dire.
  23. Nice play by Sano even though he almost took Berrios' head off.
  24. I wasn't aware that Molitor knew he had other guys in the pen in a close game...
  25. Because you put the go ahead run in scoring position with at least two more chances to get them in and take the double play out of the equation.
