  1. Mute it and throw on some music. That's always a good bet.
  2. You could listen to Dick and Jack prattle on about Jack's high school basketball career.
  3. Phil Hughes is warming. This should be fun!
  4. Kepler got bit by the weird right field. He's not alone. Maybe not. He just didn't get there. Looked more awkward than that though.
  5. He knew that he should have taken that left turn at Albuquerque.
  6. If you're going to do something, go all out is what I always say. May as well go for sucking too I suppose.
  7. I think defense gets a bad wrap because it's harder to understand and truly appreciate the value it adds. Watching Mauer's defensive performance last night is an example of that. Numbers don't always tell the entire story no matter how many there are, which makes it more difficult to follow closely for a more casual observer. There is more to this game than offense. How many of Buxton's leg kick tweaks and such are due to coaches tinkering and how much of it is him trying to find the right timing mechanism? I've always wondered a bit if they'd just leave him alone that he'd figure it out or if he's trying to figure it out thus all of the tweaks.
  8. No doubt. The list of potential candidates is not a short one.
  9. I think your name is relevant in this conversation.
  10. Not really looking forward to having the tying run come to the plate...
  11. I love me some shrimp scampi. Wash it down with a crisp Pinot grigio.
  12. Or lobstah, they are in Boston after all.
  13. Mauer catching everything tonight.
  14. Somewhat ironical to our discussion, I'm drinking a nice Cabernet.
  15. Correct play by Polanco. Nice pick by Mauer.
  16. It's too bitter for my liking, but I made a fantastic barrel aged Boulevardier that is easily the favorite of the four barrel aged cocktails I've made. I've had some barrel aged negronis and I can drink them. I have a hard time drinking "fresh" ones because of the bitterness. The aging really takes the edge off of the Campari. If you like them, a negroni would be a great barrel aged project. I tried making a vieux carre in the barrel after the boulevardier thinking the Campari might put an interesting twist on it, but I don't really like it. I'm trying different types of bitters to kind of hit that taste I was looking for.
  17. So when exactly does he need to learn? It's June and they're only half a game back with a 4 run lead. I'm not suggesting he be allowed to completely give away the lead, but with only one more out remaining and he wasn't laboring he should be allowed to finish the inning. These young pitchers need to learn to get through those types of innings. Especially since this bullpen is terrible.
