  1. I agree with the KC cameras being crap, but the call on the field was that it was a HR. The call was upheld.
  2. I have. If you haven't, how can you claim the ball was definitively foul?
  3. I haven't seen an angle in which I thought that ball was foul.
  4. Agreed, but at this point they may as well see what he's got. No reason to dismiss him yet. He may never amount to much, but I'd say he held his own.
  5. Are you referring to Busenitz or Belisle?
  6. If they're not performing and clearly not in the long term plans and ineffective in the short term, why keep an older player that has no value to this team or another? There is no reason to carry old, ineffective relievers like Belisle and Breslow on this roster when they have young options in the minors that can do no worse. While I get the idea of the roster flexibility involved with sending a Busenitz down to bring up a Pressly, simply letting go of a Belisle is addition by subtraction and it gives the younger guys opportunity to get their feet wet. The Haleys, Tonkins, and Tepeschs of this system have already sunk. They don't belong in this conversation and you know that - that's why you picked them as examples. If you're going to twist my words to the extreme to fit your holier than thou opinion, then I have no further interest in carrying on this discussion with you.
  7. I really wanted to watch Jorge's start tonight, but after watching this first game I'm kinda glad that I won't be able to. I still hope for the best for the kid though.
  8. This is going to get really really ugly.
  9. But I'd argue that anyway if they're over 28 and I'd add Belisle's name to that list. It's time to bring the kids up and let them sink or swim. Get them innings this year so that they can be more trustworthy next season.
  10. Fireworks are a few days early.
  11. Don't worry, I realize that if the pen comes in ugliness will be a compliment.
  12. I was referring to that particular inning.
  13. That ugliness is over finally.
  14. Yup. He's the ace. He's got to eat some innings here.
  15. Like I've said in several posts now, that can't be their only deal. They've got to supplement that move with more. If that is their only move, it makes no sense at all. I've never advocated to dealing only Erv, that's just one move of several.
  16. I'm tired of it too, but I don't see them as real this year so I don't really consider it moving the goalposts when next year was what I was looking at anyway.
  17. Yes, that is an option. It would take dealing the depth you currently have to do it and then you don't have much, if anything, to acquire that last piece that you need to be a legitimate title team. Dealing Santana preserves the depth you currently have plus gives you another piece(s). Does it hurt in the short term? Probably. I'm not all that concerned about this year though.
  18. I think you're looking at this singularly, as if this would be the only thing they do. If that's what ends up happening, then I agree with you. If they do trade Santana though, I think the FO realizes that they still have work to do. There isn't a lot of depth in the system, that needs to be brought in somewhere along the line. That won't happen via FA and drafting it is a long, risky process.
  19. I get that, and I'm willing to accept that. Like I mentioned earlier, trading only Santana doesn't make any sense. There needs to be supplemental moves to continue to bolster the pitching whether it be at the deadline or in the offseason, via trade or FA. Like Mike said, yours is a fair stance and I feel solid logic. I just don't agree with the approach.
  20. Better than who they could acquire for Santana? I'd agree with that, but when you have to fill 3/5 of a rotation I'll take a controllable player with upside instead. I agree completely that he's better than any free agent they'd likely get. I'd be looking for other trades to help fill that void too. Trading only Santana makes little sense. It's simply one step in a multi-step process. This team has many holes that need filled. As I said, they've got 3/5 of a rotation to fill and most of a bullpen. There are no guarantees whether you keep him or trade him. However, since he should easily be the most valuable asset to a real contending team at the deadline, IMO, it makes more sense to deal him. I don't feel that the future is now. I feel that the future is next year. Sacrificing long term gains because they unexpectedly find themselves relevant in a putrid division is what I'm afraid of.
  21. They're exceptions though, that isn't the norm. He never said that it was impossible. He said that the odds were against it - which is true.
  22. This is what I'm getting hung up on. His numbers have been getting worse every month. He obviously wasn't going to continue his April numbers throughout the season, but he is getting progressively worse. Still solid, still reliable but how much longer will that hold? I think that's the difference in the two opinions. One thinks he'll be fine, the other doesn't. I'm in the "doesn't" camp myself. I think they're a pretender with Santana pitching well, so if he continues to slide well...
  23. Any experience with Space Invaders (the alien type, not the video game)?
  24. No wonder I haven't watched espn baseball in about a decade. Doesn't appear that I'm missing anything.
