  1. In a perverse way I miss the days when I could find at least one or two infractions per hour of searching. By creating and enforcing boundaries (and a culture of civility) perhaps we have become Maytag repair people? I also totally see Carole's point, but because I am older than her I keep coming back in the hope of one more good run before I go to the forum in the sky (or that other place).
  2. The test results suggest that this is a major improvement.
  3. From the article: "What makes the Defender mask unique is its unusual, spring-loaded design that absorbs shocks. "It's really logical, and it's kind of baffling that nobody came up with this idea before," Flowers said. He compared the mask's structure to a car's suspension system, explaining that the Defender comprises two masks: an outer one (the part exposed to foul tips) and an inner one (the part with padding). The two are connected by the spring system. "When the outer mask is impacted, the springs compress and absorb the majority of the energy; it rebounds," Flowers said. "You feel just a little bit of it. But the reduction is remarkable."" All of the Twins' catchers should try this.
  4. Seems like a good kid. I wish him great success.
  5. I bought this by selling a put at $165 that was taken out, then I hedged by selling covered calls. Despite the options hedges, I am way down at the current price. I am still bullish on FB in the long term. With over 2 billion active users they have a good base to grow profits over time.
  6. This is creative and interesting. And I am glad that Astudillo would remain.
  7. Hopefully it plays out in the long run, but there is lots of well funded competition.
  8. Well said.
  9. The author has some good points, but I still like the movie despite the huge plot flaws.
  10. I think that Joe has made a wise decision and I wish him all the best.
  11. Agreed, but with the qualification that 150+ games and travel every 3 to 4 days can wear down some players more than others. Also, one or two bad apples can hurt the team morale.
  12. For some people a long home run by one of our players is a beautiful thing. We all know that a 500 foot bomb counts for only one run, but please also consider that Jennifer Lawrence is only one woman.
  13. I was hoping to get him back, but I can think of lots of reasons why he is not coming back. I suspect that we will never have enough information to do more than speculate as to why he is not coming back. Perhaps the Twins' offer was low. Perhaps there are clubhouse type issues. Perhaps he prefers Arizona for some reason that we will never know. My takeaway will be to judge the trade by the performance of the three players that the Twins got for him, and by what Falvine do to fill out next year's roster. Escobar is a special player with charisma and skills. Falvine need to make us forget him by making the team great next year.
  14. The offseason handbook is always a good read. The guest authors will make it even better.
  15. Great article, and this kid sounds like a great kid with a lot of talent and potential.
  16. I was trimming and hedging, but not enough. If you had the cash, what stock would you buy first and when?
  17. Moderator note -- please refrain from calling Sano names.
  18. I wish that there was some way to persuade Sano to stay at Ft. Meyers during the off season. He could work out, eat healthy food and hopefully tap his full potential.
  19. Thank you Tom for providing a quality recap for every game. Please enjoy a well-deserved vacation.
  20. I am glad that we were able to share this through a game thread. I am wishing Joe all the best, along with our fellow Twins fans who have contributed to game threads.
